I voted "No" based on the thread title and without reading the question ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Same here. It was sneaky. I think Jim has a bit of jerk in him, you pretty much have to working in management. I think he's overall a good guy, though. Sorry my mistake, no sneakiness was intended. I worded it like that because I'm sure everyone has a friend that's a jerk, but could you work with that jerk?

this season he's been kind of a jerk. example: when they found out they didn't have enough money to give everyone a bonus, his first instinct was to give what little money they could to the people in the sales department (which he was formerly apart of and his wife is currently part of), instead of the hardest workers overall I thought his first instinct was to give everyone a smaller raise, but Michael talked him out of it. Either way, his reasoning was that they were the ones who were making the company money, which isn't a bad idea.

I always saw Jim as sort of mischievous; he never really played tricks on Dwight because he disliked him, but because he could get the best reaction out of him, and he also knew that Dwight could take it.
If I only saw Jim at the office, I might think he's a jerk. But, because the show itself reveals so many good aspects of his character, it's near impossible for me to see him as a jerk.

He's not really a jerk but I don't blame him right now if he is a bit. Ever since he got promoted, nobody is really taking him seriously. They are taking advantage of his hostility and being hostel against him when something bad happens or he has somewhat of a bad idea or bearer of bad news. I love how this season is showing the covered up asshole dickish side of the rest of the members of The Office while reasoning and making Michael Scott more sympathetic.
A good example to this is the last episode of The Office in which Dwight frames Jim. I'm sure if it was done in the past season, everyone from The Office would jump to the conclusion that Dwight Schrute did it and if they didn't, it would insult the viewers intelligence. In terms of storybuilding and drama this is by far the best season of The Office. In terms of comedy, this might be the worst season of The Office.

. The only thing keeping me with it is the budding romance between Andy and Erin. It has the awkward sweetness the show used to be so good at delivering. Agreed, I have a total crush on Erin myself.

Ehh, he kinda seems like a jerk every since he and Pam got engaged and whatnot. He used to be carefree and a bit of a prankster but now he's just.... ehh I don't think Jim is a jerk but I will say that I haven't really cared about the character of Jim since he and Pam got together. Pam, on the other hand, I've loved a zillion times more. I never hated her, just thought she was kind of boring and there. Now she's one of my favorites. Kind weird how that happened. Actually, Andy Bernard is the jerk. He's a brown-nosing, manipulative jerk that makes Dwight look like a choirboy. GASP. I LOVE ANDY. He's one of my favorite people in the show.

He was kind of a jerk in the first season where it felt like he just pick picking on a nerd, but they changed it up since then since his pranks usually involve swithcing ridiculous claims that Dwight/Micheal/Andy said to the point where they wind up with their foot in their mouth.
"In terms of storybuilding and drama this is by far the best season of The Office. In terms of comedy, this might be the worst season of The Office."
I actually think its the other way around to be honest. The comedy seems to be standard hilarious stuff for the office, but story wise it has just felt like the writers have no idea were there going with anything. The wedding, while a good episode, felt very randomly placed for something that was so built up. I thought there was some great potential in Micheal hooking up with Pam's mom (Micheal trying to make the family he has always wanted by pretending to be a father figure to Pam/Jim and acting as if Pam's baby was his legitimate grandchild) but it was quickly thrown out the window for another "lets humiliate Micheal" Gag. I also don't really care for Jim becoming comanager, as it has kind of devolved Dwight's character back to the dolt he was in the first season when it seems like they've spent so much time trying to progress him. So far the main stories I really have enjoyed so far this season are Andy/Erin and the Dunder Mifflin possibly going bankrupted (but that could change depending where they go with it).

Andy was a bit of a obnoxious jackass in season 3 but overall he's a much more lovable and goofy character these days.
With Jim, I think he's be a much better manager at any other branch. The staff at Scranton is way too screwed these days to be well run by anyone.

If someone pulled one of his pranks on you, would you be mad? Or would you find it funny? If I had to sit near someone like Dwight Shrute or in that one episode Andy Bernard, I'd be fine if he pulled a prank on him. Exactly.

No. Jim is just bored, and keeps himself amused by playing pranks on Dwight. Given that Dwight is more than capable of taking it, it's not like he's picking a weak target or anything. If we are going in absolute terms, the title of biggest jerk in the office would go to Angela, for playing Andy and Dwight, or Ryan, for everything from wrecking the company, to playing with Jim, to breaking Kelly's heart, again. I mean, the worst thing I can think of Jim doing was his break up with Karen, which was by the book for the most part. That's small peanuts to the last five Michael episodes, or Dwight's fire drill.
Second, the term "jerk" is basically saying that someone's wits are dulled by excess masturbation. For a character who spends the first season as a lovesick puppy, that doesn't seem to be a problem.

This thread is null and void since the poll is a "yes" or "no" that way too many people would answer based on the thread title. But when you get to the actual poll, it asks a question that contradicts what the actual thread title is asking. I voted "No" based on the thread title and without reading the question ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Same ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I wanna retract my vote... whatever happened to that? I thought that used to be here.

Jim was good as a prankster on Dwight and Andy (when he hid Andy's cell phone in the ceiling).
But now as a manager, Jim seems to have lost his edge and any semblance of common sense. I mean, come on - last episode Dwight presents a way for the employee incentive program, Jim takes it at face value but can't see that both he and Pam are being set up by Dwight.

I think they've turned pretty much every single character on the show into a jerk this season. Seriously, they're all becoming pretty unlikeable. The only thing keeping me with it is the budding romance between Andy and Erin. It has the awkward sweetness the show used to be so good at delivering. Its funny to watch the early episodes where Andy is a brown nosing schemer with serious rage issues and compare him to the affable dork he's become now. And I agree with how everyone on the show has become unlikeable and annoying. The wedding episode really highlights this. The office mates are basically forced to go, Jim and Pam only really want them there to get gifts, the obnoxious way everybody acted before and during the ceremony, etc.
