Has any of you watched this movie? I'm a long time fan of David Lynch and my art professor and I discuss deeply about this film. I just want to know what your guys' thoughts are about this film.

In heaven, everything is fine In heaven, everything is fine In heaven, everything is fine You've got yours, and I've got mine
It's the definition of trippy, for sure. My buddy Strotha, someone who posts here on occasion, loves David Lynch, and the film. He'd be a great person to ask.

I respect the movie and think it's really well made and creative. But I'm going to say it's not my type of movie and I don't think I could watch it for a second time. Some scenes were just hard to watch.

Even if you hate it, you'll have an experience.

I've discussed this film at length as well. I love it for the surreal portrayal of what I believe is a sort of id, ego, superego thing being examined. On a related note, one movie that I love to discuss in regard to id, ego, and superego more than anything is Fight Club {Spoiler}Norton, Pitt, ANNNNNND Bonham Carter are all the same person. Three phases of the same psyche.

As someone who lives fairly close to the city, it amuses me to no end that a key influence on the film was Lynch's reaction to living in Philadelphia.

It's my favorite movie and has been for years. I've probably watched it over fifty times now. I'm not going to say any more just because I'm probably expected to ramble on and praise it maniacally...and I would, so I'll stop.
If you like Lynch, other directors I recommend are Alejandro Jodorowsky (I'd start with Holy Mountain), Maya Deren, Ingmar Bergman, Jan Svankmajer, Frederico Fellini, Stephen Sayadian (aka Rinse Dream, if you like surreal porn), Luis Bunuel, and Shinya Tsukamoto.

I love Eraserhead. And David Lynch in general.
Blue Velvet is my favorite film of his, having grown up in the 'burbs.

Yeah I concur on the Eraserhead lovefest orgy going on here. Its a must see, whether you like it or forever baffled what the whole point was.
Which if you ask me, is a mistake. God knows how many reviews I've read of people trying to explain Eraserhead.
Why bother?

I saw Eraserhead at the cinema during its initial run. It was a creepy film.

I also find it slightly amusing on how George Lucas offered David Lynch the chance to direct Return of the Jedi because he was a huge fan of Eraserhead. I also found it more amusing with David Lynch declining stating that it won't be in George Lucas's creative vision.

Look what happened with Jedi: Lucas practically took over Jedi when his hired director wasn't exactly cutting the mustard. Plus since he was the producer and had total control of the original story, I doubt Lynch was interested in space operas. I mean look at Dune.

I've seen the Greg the Bunny spoof/parody and it was strange as hell.

For some reason, I picture Return of the Jedi exactly as Eraserhead except it's a deformed Ewok baby starting Chewbaca and Princess Leila. He also has afro fur. You made my night unintentionally ;D

I love Eraserhead, and when I found that out it made me laugh hysterically. Bein from Philly and all. Eraserhead is one of my favorite movies of all time, regardless. A lot of people I know hate it though.

The baby looks like the collective spirit that Philly fans have towards performers and entertainers. They'd probably boo a Make a Wish kid if he threw an opening pitch.
