This is something that bothers me, and I've been seeing it more and more (even on here). What bothers me is people not respecting others opinions.
I'll give you an example. we've had threads here about movies like Avatar and GI Joe and Transformers 2 and just about any big movie coming out. These threads always end up with someone telling someone that their opinion is wrong/stupid and that they're opinion is correct.
How is an opinion correct? If one doesn't like a movie/book/tv show/hand puppet, why is that so bad? If you think a film is crap, there is someone out there who thinks it's the best thing ever. If it's not hurting you (and there are exceptions of course) why be a dickweed and rain on his parade? Why not have a little thing called respect? Is it really that hard to attack the product and not the person who likes it?
Telling someone you don't like something (and why)is fine, but there's no need to attack someone who does like it, it just makes you look like a jackass.
Just my two cents.

zomg you nazi, how dare you? My opinion are the greatestestest.
Seriously though, agreed 100%. It comes off like certain people are insecure in their own opinions, and feel the need to over justify them. Why people care whether others agree with them or not is beyond me. Someone not liking a movie, game, team, player, match, wrestler shouldn't have any effect on my or your enjoyment, yet for some people it seems that it does.
State your opinions, discuss them if you want, then move on. The verbal slap fighting around the internet, and around here a ton lately, is so dumb and immature.

The reason how I think some people think that an opinion is "correct" is they think THEIR opinion is fact. Thus anyone who has the same opinion is right, but anyone who disagrees is, to quote Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns, WROOOOOOOONG!!!!!!!

One more small thing that bothersme (while I'm on this nifty soapbox) are people who need to restate over and over they hate something. A couple times is alright, but after the seventh or eighth time we kind of get the idea of your thoughts on said subject is.

Opinions are like assholes. Just because you're not flexible enough to see it doesn't mean you have to go around showing it to everyone.
Wait, I don't think I said that right.

It depends. Opinions can be wrong. Opinions on movies differ when it comes to taste, I don't really discuss movies because I don't care about movies. But, if you are of the opinion that the moon is made of blue cheese, then, I'm sorry, I'm not going to be open minded and accept your opinion.
It's been said that you should be open minded, but you shouldn't be so open minded that your brain falls out.
Even on matters that I usually discuss like wrestling, if someone thinks Kurt Angle is a bad wrestler, that maybe their opinion, but that can be proven wrong, by providing examples of matches in the past, other people's opinions in the business, observing how he moves, observing psychology, etc. I mean, there's nothing against the person if they don't like Kurt Angle's wrestling, but it's also good to be able to explain why. Like, I don't like so and so, so there. And then when someone challenges your opinion, you go, ohh, I can't believe you have the nerve to say my opinion is this, that or the other thing.
I'm never afraid to defend my opinion, and if I feel I'm wrong, then I'm wrong, but if I feel I'm right, then I'm right, and I will attempt to defend my opinion as much as I can. When it breaks down to flaming, then it just shows that. On opinions on movies, I can't really comment about that, because I don't really follow movies.

Look at my "Christian isn't a good ECW Champion" thread. There were no personal insults or "everything you know is wrong" disses. Granted the point of the thread was "Christian isn't really a draw in his current form" rather than "Christian Sucks" (most movie-related threads on here quickly devolve into "this movie sucks"/ "no it doesn't" on here). In other words, if the various threads were less about posturing and more about analyzing the product, the fights would be far less frequent. That, and alot of the time things turn into a war between Fans/Anti-Fans, which is why She Who Must Not Be Named always results in disasters.

I did see that thread, and it's one of the few I've seen recently that came off as well versed and not condescending. We could use more threads like that.

I thought I was the only one that thought this..I hate it when people say "I can't understand how anybody can like _____" or "People who like ___ are retarded" etc.

Yes I hate that.
I remember once on another forum which will remain nameless I was on years ago just after Star Wars Episode III came out there was one member who really hated the film. I mean he really hated it. He wrote like 10,000 word post on why he thought the film sucked. Well that's OK he is entitled to that.
But then when someone else would post saying they liked the film it would take less then minute for the Hater to reply saying how wrong the liker is.
It got really annoying. But to be fair he was not insulting the liker in his posts. Although in his original post he did say something like 'anyone that enjoyed this film is a retard'

I can understand it, its not as though we are all members of Parliament attempting to follow specific sets of order.
Then again, those guys are like an unmoderated forum sometimes.

What bothers me is people who post "It's ok if you like it but...." then go on a long drawn out rant about just what it is they hate about whatever it is you like. "But hey, if you enjoy it more power to you....but..." and on and on. Maybe I'm wrong, but this just seems to me like a veiled attempt at saying you're wrong and stupid. I don't know.

I don't have a problem with that. In that case the person really is just stating a contrary opinion; not crapping on others.

I'd really like to think most people have more important things to do in their real lives than to actively care and complain about whether someone liked/hated a movie/tv show/video game or not.
But I guess I'm wrong.
