15 years or so ago Dominos had a truley unique and delicious pizza that was different from every other kinds. I used to love their pepperoni pizzas.. somewhere in the mid/late 90s they changed something and its been awful ever since.

Frankly, nothing beats our homemade pizza wraps. Started making them when our oven died, and all it is is rolling the pizza contents up and whacking them in the sandwich toaster until the contents are heated and melted in the middle.
They are awesome. We have only had take-away pizza once in the last 6 months since we started making them (Dominos about a week ago), and I found their pizza to be very oily.

Had Domino's last week and the new recipe is a lot better than the old. Papa John's is my preference though because I love that garlic sauce of there's. Pizza Hut has gone way downhill lately. Used to be by number one but not anymore.

I hate Pizza Hutt. Little Caesar's is the lowest common denominator of delivery/takeout pizza. And for the life of me, I will never understand the appeal of Cici's: it's like they went to a grocery store, bought a bunch of the cheapest frozen TV-dinner-style pizzas they could find, and then served them up on a buffet, and for some reason everybody went nuts over it. Ditto to all of this. The only thing Little Caesar's has for it is that it's cheap. Otherwise it's bland and greasy. Having worked in Pizza Hut, I won't be eating there again. Pizza there was not only too expensive, you bathed it in oil. Cici's advantage is that you can gorge yourself easily because the pizza leaves no impression. Domino's was actually OK where I lived. It wasn't anything to write home about, it was about in the middle of the pack. Papa John's wins out if I'm considering a chain pizzeria

I have to speak up for Cicis a bit here, there's one right up the street for me and I have to say that the BBQPizza there is absolutely brilliant.

I love Domino's, so i'm a bit worried this "new" pizza will end up causing me to be turned off them.
Maybe it's because I have a Domino's right down the street from me, so it's always hot and fresh when it comes to my door, but I've always enjoyed the taste. All my friends agree, it tastes horrible though, so I guess I am the minority.

I liked Domino's until they changed the way they make their pizza. Now I'm going to Pizza Hut or elsewhere.

I have to say this. Pizza Hut was one of the best alone with papa Johns for years. Then something changed at it is not the same. Dominos I am interested in trying the new kind because I haven't had them in years because they where not good like said in the 90's. I live in a place where there are a lot of other chooses. Little Cesars have done a good turn around. They changed there product and made it cheap. So for 5 bucks I can get a one toping Pizza and it taste is good enough to fill the spot even better when you add the Garlic sauce.
We in St. Louis have Emos which is another great Pizza if you find a good Location. You gotta know where to go because they depend on who runs it. I stop going to the one by my house because I was treated like crap by the guy running it. I had a gift card and I wanted to use it. I ask if I can use the gift card and he said it was down (with attitude) and hung up right after it. I was like WTF I was still going to paid for it with cash if I couldn't. But because of that I said screw them they lost a customer. I'll get there stuff else where.
But Papa Johns I think nation wide chain has the best. They are higher but the quality is great.

Being from Brooklyn, I can tell you there's no pizza like a pizza from NYC. Chain-wise though, I enjoy Papa Johns. We in St. Louis have Emos which is another great Pizza if you find a good Location. I could make a joke about slicing, but I won't.

The only times I've ever preferred Domino's Pizza is in college at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Even then, I can't really say I "enjoyed" it, so much as I "tolerated" it.
My biggest complaint about Domino's Pizza is that it's mediocre when it's fresh, and it's ABOMINABLE any time after that. The best pizza is pizza that can re-heat well or is still quality pizza when cold. Domino's Pizza is atrocious the day after, whether it's cold or warm. The phrase "the crust tastes like cardboard" is not just a saying, its a statement of fact.
I'm willing to give the new Domino's a try, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. At the end of the day, they can't hold a candle to the best pizza ever made: Papa Gino's.

We're on the third page and no one even mentions California Pizza Kitchen?!
Anyway, I'm curious about these changes Domino's has claimed to make. I'll try it in the next week probably.

I cannot care about Dominoes Pizza. Not only is there a local chain that is infinitely better than them here in town, but Papa Murphy's has made me swear off all crappy pizza chains because they cannot even come close to its awesomeness.

Had Domino's last week and the new recipe is a lot better than the old. Papa John's is my preference though because I love that garlic sauce of there's. Pizza Hut has gone way downhill lately. Used to be by number one but not anymore. Just so you know, Dominos has the same Garlic Sauce, you just have to ask for it. Also, this thread is very odd to me since everyone seems to be making a big deal about something I knew about like 2 months ago since I work at Dominos. Being from Brooklyn, I can tell you there's no pizza like a pizza from NYC. Chain-wise though, I enjoy Papa Johns. I always laugh about these kinds of statements, because of two things. One, it implies you've had pizza from everywhere in the world in order to make a true statement. Two, it implies that the same ovens and same ingridients have a different flavor just because they are in a particular city. I think it has more to do with WHO is cooking a pizza and what's used than where it comes from. Same as any kind of food that isn't like a delicit baked good (as altitude can actually affect baked goods like that). This isn't directed right at you, or anyone mentioning Chicago earlier and I don't mean to offend. It's just more an observation I have based on things a lot of people say sometimes and not just about pizza.

Just had a couple slices of Domino's Chicago Deep Dish. It's...not bad?
It's in that grey area with shrimp chips. I ate it, and I'm not sure about it.

The Deep Dish hasn't changed at all except for the cheese and sauce. The Deep Dish crust is the same still.

The fact is, here in New Jersey, you mostly do not order pie from chain pizza places unless you have no alternative whatsoever.
That's not to say that every single pizza place in Jersey is super-high quality, but you'd be hard pressed to live in a town that doesn't at least have one independently owned parlor that outshines the chain stores by miles and miles.
And once you're in NYC, forget it, because now you're talking a place that has a lot of quality small pizza places practically stacked one on top of the next. I was lucky enough to pick up a slice driving through Queens recently, wish like hell I could remember which place it was (I was in a hurry), some of the best I've had.
That all being said, my family and I have always simply categorized the chain pizza places as "pizza food", not actual pie. Yeah, most of the same ingredients are used, but it doesn't taste like the real article most of the time.
Sometimes, that's fine. Hell, I recently ordered from Dominoes recently at a hotel (didn't have any other pizza options) because I wanted pizza, but wanted to be able to have thin crust, and to get toppings I normally wouldn't get on a real pie. I also don't have anything overly negative to say about Papa John's, which fits the role of "pizza food" just fine, and offers the convenience of being able to get a personal size pizza.
But there's a huge difference between chain pizza and the real article.

I agree HMark. I work at Dominos but I'll tell you that a good local place with a chef that knows what they're doing and is good at what they do beats the hell out of all the chains.
But then again that really goes for all foods IMO.

Got to give CiCis some props. It's not the best pizza around but you can't beat $3.99 all you can eat Monday Madness with a free drink (since I am a student ;D)

Yeah Crimson, I know so many people that hate on CiCi's but I'm like you get what you pay for and when you're broke it's just fine. I know people complain about them not changing the pizzas enough but I'm like "That's why you go to buffets when the place is at least moderatly busy."

HMark: Are you talking North New Jersey or South New Jersey?
*Works at a South New Jersey Domino's...I tend to leave the store with anywhere from 50-100 dollars a night
