A discworld thread? About friggin' time! I've not read the new book yet, but on holiday I got through Mort again, and am now reading Reaper Man...again. Those two and Soul Music are probably my favourites.

Mort and Reaper Man are awesome, and pretty much all of the Watch novels are great.
Anyway, went to the bookstore today, a few hours after making this thread. In a strange twist of fate, I discovered that all the books were being sold in one store. I think, the correct term for something like this is "nerdgasm".
Bought Wryd Sisters, Night Watch, and Unseen Academicals. The first two books I bought since I lost my old ones. Hooray for me.

Amazed that he still turns the books out after suffering from Alzheimers.

Did anyone see his programme about Alzheimers? It was really, really good. Check it out, if you can.
Another great set of characters which I've not seen mentioned yet are the Wizards, especially a few novels in when they really came into their own. Always good for a few laughs.
I've been trying to get more people into them. I know my girlfriend and her dad would love them if they gave them a chance, but I haven't been able to yet.

Well, let's just do it the easy way and say that every group of character in the Discworld has something awesome about them.
In any case, anyone here have the feeling that after Thud! the Watch series of Discworld novels are near it's end?

Something that interests me, if Vetinari dies, the interaction between him and Death. Also... who'll be the new ruler, Carrot or Moist?

Thinking about it, if Vetinari does die, it could be a pretty big turning point in the Discworld, since his death will affect a giant chunk of Ankh-Morpork, and stuff.

I could see them doing a big election between the two then Vetinari just leaving it too Drumknott in his will An election in a city that voted against democracy... Could be very, very Interesting. Excellent series of books. My favourite has to be Night Watch, Pratchett's best one yet in the series.
