Mild spoiler from the new Family Guys Star Wars DVD
They did a really excellent job recreating one of my favorite commercials ever.

After him and Luke are resqued from the snow in Hoth he says he will go back to the base after sking with some teenagers. It then goes into this. You see it's funny because it happened when you were younger and now you see this and remember it....so um ya

So recreating a commercial verbatim constitutes as a joke these days?
Wow, the standards of comedy have sunken to a new low.

Apparently commercial references constitute for jokes.

Definitely the weakest gag out of a decent episode(s).
FG seems to do better these days in the "where the hell did that line come from?" department instead of the "Hey, let's reference an 80's pop culture thing that only 3 people will get." and of course the "Hey, i'm Seth McFarlane and this is how I feel about the world today." fiasco.

Wonder how they're gonna make it fit tv though.

Nice. I had totally forgotten about that commercial until I heard "Get your skiis shined up." Then I remembered it verbatim.

This is one of those gags that the writers like to put in the show that isn't supposed to be funny but make the viewer ask "Um....is this supposed to be funny?" Apparently it worked.
And there will never be a 100% positive Family Guy thread. Not on this forum anyway. Too many Crappers really really hate this show. For the record, I'm not one of them.
