{Spoiler}After seeing the interaction between Dexter and Rita this week, I can totally see that comment last week about Rita dying in a car accident coming to fruition. I think shes gone next week. Doesn't help that the episode is called "The Getaway", so I'm expecting some sort of chase scene with Trinity and she bites it.
HOLY POO. DID ANYONE WATCH THE TWO TEASERS?!? Deb finds out Laura Moser had two children, and that she is Dex's biological mother. I wonder if she'll find out that Rudy/Ice Truck Killer is Dex's brother. book spoiler / speculation {Spoiler}i don't think the big shocker is Rita getting killed, i think its going to be that, just like in the first book Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Deb finds out Dexter is a serial killer

Simple as that.

The first season follows the first book really well, up until the "joint killing" at the end. Then the series goes away from the book for the finish. None of the other books have linked up with any of the seasons, with the exception of Dex and Rita getting married. I REALLY wish they'd do Dearly Devoted Dexter's storyline. My personal favorite (haven't had a chance to read all of Dexter By Design yet).

Spoiler on books: {Spoiler}I haven't read them, but I recall hearing that at some point, Dexter starts to see the same qualities in Cody that he had when he was young. And this leads him to training Cody and teaching him how to put his urges to good use. Can anyone confirm?

I'm up to season 4 now, so I'm keeping up with everyone. Is it just me or is Rita INCREDIBLY annoying this season? My Fiance & cousin both said the same thing to me a few weeks ago. Yeah she is very annoying.

I 'm shocked that they killed Rita off like that. I know a couple of you mentioned the possibility her dying a few weeks back, but I don't think anyone could have seen it happening like that.
I'm actually pretty disappointed. Julie Benz was great.

I'm still in shock...I thought it was a possibility, but I didn't think they were going to go through with it.
The worse thing is having to wait another year!

Yeah, the nine months of hell begins today. But at least I'll have fun re-watching this season, which was easily the best of the four to date. Captivating television from start to finish.
BTW, when did Arthur find the time to kill Rita? Was Dexter hiding in the trunk of the Mustang outside of his own house when it happened?

Wow!! By far the best ending to a season so far.So now he's a single father of 3?That might make his extra activities a little difficult to do,i'm thinking he'll snap next season in a big way

Apparently Arthur was late in picking up the car, which is why Dexter was able to catch him. I'm really, really bugged out. I wasn't expecting that. I was totally lulled into a sense of security by the writers and then BAM. I don't know what I'm going to do. Not sleeping yet, that's for sure.

Harrison will remain with Dexter.

Wow. I read the theories and it was a possibility, but I thought it was gonna be a car wreck or something. Having it end like that, shocked the hell out of me. I know most of the fans are gonna be all, "YAY! Rita's dead! What an annoying bitch." and yeah, she was at points, but it sucks that she's gone from the show. Either way, hope this means more manly action flicks with her in it. What sucks now is the 9-month wait. I already have to do it with Sons of Anarchy, and now Dexter. My TV life blows, haha.

Honestly, part of me was hoping they'd actually be able to wrap up the show on a positive note and let Dexter live happily ever after with Rita. After tonight, there's no way this show ends positively. Dexter's either dying or getting caught. I cannot believe how masterfully the writers just wiped the slate clean. It feels like I got punched in the stomach.

Apparently Arthur was late in picking up the car, which is why Dexter was able to catch him. I'll need to watch the episode again, but as soon as Rita left with Harrison initially in the taxi, didn't Dexter immediately go to the auto shop? Or was there a period of time between that? It seems like there was no window for Arthur to kill her. My mind is kinda screwed up right now after the finale, so I'm probably forgetting something. Maybe as soon as Dexter went to the auto shop, Rita came back to the house, at which point Arthur intercepted and killed her. Then Arthur went to the auto shop, at which point Dexter had already tinkered with the car and hopped into the trunk. That seems like the most logical scenario. And I agree that Astor and Cody probably end up with Paul's parents, with Dexter keeping his biological son.

I had a theory but it got scratched by a later scene at the house. I was thinking of when Rita dropped off Dexter at the parking garage, but then there was a scene at the house later with Rita/Dexter, so...nevermind.
My brain is racked trying to figure this out, personally.
