It was a steampunk Batman. I thought that style and plot wise, it was a good Holmes film, but the Professor parts were a bit ham fisted.

I saw it. I thought it was okay. Not great by any means. It kind of dragged towards the end for me.

I enjoyed it quite well. I thought Robert Downey Jr. was an excellent Sherlock Holmes. Jude Law was an excellent Watson, and Rachel McAdams was a BODACIOUS Irene Adler.
I didn't mind the little bits that Moriarty received, as I felt if they tried to put him in as well, there'd be a clusterf*** between Holmes trying to defeat Blackwood and Moriarty.

Will see at some point in the next 2 weeks. Also, why is anyone surprised at the success of a modernized version of this character? After all, Holmes=House, Watson=Wilson.

as someone who has limited knowledge of the sherlock holmes books or old shows, i thought the movie was pretty good. Enjoyed Downey and Law's performances. Overall I am hoping box office success for this movie so i can get another one.
Nice role for Kurgan in the movie too....

You don't have much to worry about.

I thought it was a good flick, and agree that it was good keeping Moriarity to a minor role when they already had Blackwood. See, Spider Man 3 did teach the movie industry a lesson after all.

The Holmes comes off too smart for what his character is. In the books he is not that smart. Hence his smarter brother:

One of my favorite movies as a kid was Young Sherlock Holmes. So I've been waiting for a Holmes movie like this for a while. Guy was a great choice for director and lets just say pigs and boxing reminded me of Snatch and thats a good thing.

I haven't seen it but want to see it. It looks okay but I'm not making the same mistake I made with Avatar in thinking it will be the greatest.(I actually knew Avatar wouldn't be great plot-wise and wasn't expecting much due to what I saw in the trailer but it basically ended up the exact way i imagined it being)
