Who reigns supreme, the gerb or the ham?

I like chinchillas, fancy rats and fancy mice more, but out of those two, I guess gerbils, since hamsters have to eat their own poop to fully digest things.
Jerboas are freaking creepy. They look like rodent-duckling hybrids.

I had gerbils when I was a kid. All the damn things did was bite me and try to escape from their cage. Miserable little creatures.
We got to take home the class hamster from my son's preschool over the summer. He would sleep all day and then as soon as the house got dark, he would some out and run on his exercise wheel until the sun came up. If you could actually catch him, he would sit calmly and let you pet him (and he was super soft and fuzzy).
My small pet of choice is still the rat. They are smart and affectionate and (if raised properly) they don't bite. We currently have seven of them in our house.
