I tried watching the Star Wars Christmas Special on Google Video. I got about 10 minutes in before I stopped it. It was that f'ing horrible. So I purchased the Rifftrax for it and that made it more bearable to sit threw. Can't wait to see what the Critic makes of it. I'm guessing he will be shouting 'Oh God, Shut Up!' a lot

I still do not like the lack of Will Vinton Christmas. That is a classic.

Cut and pasted:
Die Hard surprised me too, but it made total sense. And yeah, screw it, it's DIE HARD! It is a fun Christmas movie only it's... not.
Fiance got me watching Polar Express our second Christmas together and I liked it well enough, just was the original book with extra padding. Eh.
As for the Nativity Story, just a theory on my part, but I think this was supposed to be marked bigger except from one TINY little problem - Keshia Castle-Hughes, the girl from Whale Rider, player of the Virgin Mary, was basically pulled out of any promotion when she ended up pregnant. At 15 (she turned 16 just after the announcement). Needless to say, that wasn't going to fly with the Christian groups who so loved the Passion that the movie was targeted toward so, the movie never really took off.
And now you know.

I called it, I called it, I called it. I knew Die Hard was gonna top this list.
And someone should give a heads up to RD and Blade that the NC is doing the Star Wars Christmas Special. Maybe they can give him some emotional and mental preparation.

Let me get this straight... They boycott a movie about an underage girl getting pregnant and how she has to live in a society that demands she be cast out and mudered... because the actress who played her was an underage girl who got pregnant? goddam

This list really seems kinda unnecessary. I mean I'm sure a number of people complained that he left their favorites off of last year's list, but it already seems like he's scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one.

Without her able to go out and promote, the movie was effectively dead in the water. But, yeah, judgmental much?

While Die Hard is the best Christmas special with little to do with Christmas, you know what's the worse? At least I think it is the worse.

That and also the movie didn't really attract anyone outside of those groups. Passion had the controversy, and well with some movies every few years are talked about so much that many folks (outside of niche interested and movie nerds) go see them to see what the fuss is about. Plus I heard it wasn't much of a picture. As to your point, its interesting considering she was playing a character that possibly (as argued by some historians/theologians) was 13 or 14. Oh the irony is rich.

That French film... I think it's just called Merry Christmas in French, he mentioned it, I forget the name. Bon Noél?
Anyway, that film is one of the most beautiful pieces of cinema ever made. I saw it last year on TV by accident and it's simply gorgeous.

Just two things ...
First, I watched the Star Wars Christmas Special when it was broadcast on network television. Holy crap it's bad.
Second, for those of you who don't consider Die Hard a Christmas movie, snork you. ;D It's on my holiday viewing list along with The Ref and I'll be watching both of those movies on Christmas Eve.

ok seriously this is like the fourth time I've seen Die Hard listed as a Christmas movie this year... I don't remember anyone ever saying this before... so why all of a sudden is it getting this distinction edit: yes I know it's Die Hard and it's awesome... but still all of a sudden it's everywhere
