Warning: Language!
CON: It's over an hour long. PRO: It's without a doubt the greatest film review in the history of moving pictures.
...yes, I'm being serious.

wow, this is incredible.
He's got good intelligent points. Don't see why he had to play it up and put on a voice though.

Yeah I recommended people check this out in another thread. For anyone who isn't familiar with RedLetterMedia's work, you should also watch his reviews of the Star Trek TNG movies, because his character has kinda been developing since the beginning.

I just discovered this guy yesterday, and watched it all day. I agree, these reviews are amazing. They make intelligent points while being absolutely hilarious. I loved the First Contact review where he pointed out that Picard has a completely different personality in the movies, and that the ending makes NO SENSE AT ALL.

I love the bit with the random crewman questioning the sanity of Picard's plan. "Why is this part of the engine that contains the flesh melting gas even puncturable? Shouldn't it be made of like solid titanium? Why are there clear windows on this tube? What if the new guy like accidentally hit it with a forklift?"

Yeah, I just discovered this guy as well. Absolutely brilliant. The absurd combination of a Bill Murray voice, abrupt jump cuts through half-finished thoughts, and the slow unraveling of his psychopathic personality (along with some really great points about sci-fi films) makes him an instant favorite.

You know I kinda feel bad because I discovered these back in April and I never told anyone about them until yesterday. I'd have posted them here sooner but at the time I wasn't sure how many Star Trek fans there were around here, so I didn't know what the reaction would be. Still I'm glad he's finally getting some recognition, because he really isn't as well known as he should be.

About the only bad thing I have to say about him is that he never sent me my Goddamn Pizza Rolls.

At first, I really didn't like his voice. One minute later, I was laughing to kill myself.
Those were excellent, intelligent points, and I commend him for the excellent review!

Dr. Zoidberg did a good job on this review. You know that's who he sounds like. And I like Qui-Gon. He's probably the best character in the whole movie. When this movie first came out, I thought it was awesome. Mostly because it was a brand new Star Wars film and I figured that it was only going to get better from there. Woo boy was I silly goose. btw, I love how when he says at the end, the protagonist (or pro-hadaerijun) gets the girl as the icing on the cake. And it shows Charlie hugging Willy Wonka, LOL.

Wow, the character study part at the end there was spot on and hilarious at the same time.
*runs off to watch the rest*

The most interesting part of the review to me is his analysis of Lucas and co. watching the first screening of the film. I'd never seen that footage before, but he's right that the expression on McCallum's face really does say it all. He knows the movie is s*** and he regrets not challenging some of Lucas' decisions when had the chance.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever met a 20 year old who thought Empire was the weakest film in the trilogy?

He knows the movie is s*** and he regrets not challenging some of Lucas' decisions when had the chance. It's also great how Lucas rationalizes the whole thing. He accepts their complaints and says, "well, too late to change it now........... it's a new kind of film. It'll be great!"

There's an exhaustive candid documentary that takes you from the day Lucas first started writing the script to the day of release. It's amazing in that you can see each and every misstep along the way (including Lucas picking Jake Lloyd over a really talented kid who would have been great in the role) and how the reactions of McCallum and the rest of the crew slowly go from exuberant to terrified.
