Well, is he?
I personally think he is.
(I also think he is the best ever)

I think it is impossible to pick a best in any given time period.

THE best, no. One of the best, yeah.
I mean he, Trips, Orton, Punk, Jericho, Morrison, Ziggler and Christian are all delivering when given the chance.

You can't really say who the best wrestler is because everybody has their own opinion.

You can't really say who the best wrestler is because everybody has their own opinion. I say Morrison. And since I said it, that makes it so.

I think he's been surpassed by Chris Jericho.

I think it's him, Y2J, Christian, and Edge right now. I like Punk, but i'm not complete marks like a lot of you, and i've never been super impressed with his in ring stuff really, though it is unique. In whatever case, the fact he's still doing this at 43 or whatever is remarkable.

I say yes. He's been great for over 20 years. I can't recall anyone ever being that good for that long. Some might say Flair but he was a shell of his former self by the mid 90's.

When it comes to big time PPV matches, yes.
Week-in and week-out, though? No. That'd be Christian.

Shawn, Jericho, and Christian on any given week can absolutely blow you away.

I might consider putting HBK at the top of the all-time list, but a couple of guys named Ric Flair and The Undertaker top him IMO. But he definitely owns a spot near the top of the list.

Good, yes, but not the best exactly, to me anyway. He's certainly a good wrestler.

Depends on the criteria.
As far as providing the ability to put on the match of the night, yeah.
However, he has really slowed down and doesn't wrestle very much now. Both Jericho and Christian also have that big match ability but usually arent highlighted as much as Shawn is.
To me right now, its probably Jericho overall, and Christian could be if he gets the chance to shine.

No. He is one of the best, especially when it comes to main events, but on a week to week basis he's behind Jericho, Christian and Punk.

I'd say the best wrestler in WWE right now is Christian, and that's not just because I really like the guy. He wrestles every single week, and usually puts on match of the week candidates every single time. On top of that, Christian makes all of his opponents look like a million bucks.
I'm not trying to say that Christian is better than Shawn Michaels, I'm more just trying to say that in this current point in time, Christian is the more consistent in-ring performer.

I think he's the best when he's putting some effort into it. These days, though, and in general when he's with DX, I think he's phoning it in. I'm kind of hoping this triple threat thing will mark the point of the year where he starts working hard again.
But yeah, I agree with some of the posters above that when it comes to people who are working hard day in and day out, and doing it well, I don't think Shawn's even in the top five at this specific moment. But when it comes to people who are going to deliver when it's important, he's always gonna be high on the list.

I say YES! Why I say this? Because he is. People are saying he is when it comes to PPV's, well that means he is the best, because he chooses so, therefore means he can do it any time and "do it" means the BEST.....around(continue Karate Kid song here).......yeah it's Saturday night, so you know what that means.......IMA DRINKIN', Hooray!

I agree especially with the last five, they have consistently delivered great matches on tv. Orton and HHH can have very good matches, but also have matches that can be pretty disapointing, I was not impressed with the HHH/Cena match on Raw several weeks ago, it didn't seem to flow well and there were a couple of botched spots. Micheals is definitely still up there though, and is doing great considering his age and for what his body has been through. Also with age I think he has gotten better with ring physcology and adapting more to his opponents. I still say Jericho, Punk and Morrison are my favorites, but I think it all has to do with personal opinion and what style you like.
