en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgess_MeredithMickey from the Rocky series, The Penguin from sixties Batman, star of a host of memorable Twilight Zone episodes, and on, and on.. Show some love for a great character actor here.

Great as a voice in the original (animated) GI Joe movie. Great in Grumpy Old Men. All around, a tremendous actor.
Sometimes, when I'm feeling down, I imagine Mickey sitting there going "Git in 'er and fight, kid!" Definitely some great motivation.

I don't think I ever had an actor who meant so much to me as a kid...That I didn't even know who he was.
He was one of my favorite supporting characters, Mickey Goldmill, along with being the friggin Penguin! How awesome is that? Of course, he was also a really talented actor, but come on dammit, he's Mickey!
GET UP YOU SONOFABITCH! Cause Mickey loves you!

I of course rip that line off when I want to cheer people up sometimes. I think one of his most lasting roles is one that also doesn't immediately come to mind. *glasses break* "No... no... it's not fair!"

"Well let me tell you something now, Johnny. Last Thursday, I turned 95 years old. And I never exercised a day in my life. Every morning, I wake up, and I smoke a cigarette. And then I eat five strips of bacon. And for lunch, I eat a bacon sandwich. And for a midday snack?"
"Bacon?"
"Bacon! A whole damn plate! And I usually drink my dinner. Now according to all of them flat-belly experts, I should've took a dirt nap like thirty years ago. But each year comes and goes, and I'm still here. Ha! And they keep dyin'. You know? Sometimes I wonder if God forgot about me. Just goes to show you, huh?"
There's no moral. He just likes that story.

Let's not forget his classic turn as Mr Hennessey in "Foul Play"
"Like that man told you in the movies last night, beware of the midgets. They're taking over the world."

Surprisingly, though, my favorite role of his is actually him being the voice of Puff The Magic Dragon from the 70's cartoon movies. It's easily my favorite children's movie to this day, and I practically always have his voice in mind when I think of it.

He's said some cool things, but that is the coolest thing he's said outside of The Rocky series.

It's really weird when you compare that soothing voice to his real one. Plus they were lovely cartoons.

When Rocky's getting the crap beaten out of him in Balboa and imagines Mickey in his corner, I got a maaajor lump in my throat.
