AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl wins Worst Bowl Name of the Year.
EDIT: However, Vince Vance is a hilarious name.

Yeah, Mike Leach was rumored to be very verbal and physical to his players. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors, but for Tech to just drop him immediately is NOT a good sign for him, even if he IS the winning-est coach in Tech history.

There's finally been a TD in the Independence Bowl, and it's gone to Texas A&M.

And Georgia's Boykin answers right back with a kickoff return for a TD.

Incredible defensive game, so far. Took darn near 90 RT minutes to score the first touchdown of the game.

Georgia now lead with a fumble at the goalline which in the end was given to the running back.

Loving ESPN's mocking of the situation between the NCAA and EA Sports where they can't use players' likenesses.

Loving ESPN's mocking of the situation between the NCAA and EA Sports where they can't use players' likenesses. jus put a "T" and a pick-a-chur of a bow. Speaking of nothing related in a terrible segway... I've watched pretty much all the bowl games with the folks so far (starting with Brigham Young versus Oregon State), and 2 thoughts on the matter: a.) I am SO damn sick of those horrible Geico commercials. ALL OF THEM! The stupid lizard, the horrible snide announcer with a "wah wah wahhhh" joke, the damn cavemen, the googly eyes... Geico should just have their logo, say their stupid catch phrase, and move on. Most of the commercials suck (I am sick of Geico, I am sick of Capital One, I am sick of all these commercials). b.) Has a single "coaches challenge" been successfully overturned? There have been some OBVIOUS challenges, but I've yet to see one get overturned. I understand the whole "irrefutable proof" rule, but really?!?

The kid in question is the son of an ESPN analyst. Of COURSE it won't end well.

The sponsor of this game is an energy drink company. They used Kutless and Michael W. Smith as advertisers. I'd NEVER think I'd see a Christian rock band OR Michael W. Smith advertising ANYTHING...

And to top off the win for Georgia, Uga is back. When they showed him on the sidelines, I was like, "Awwwwwwwwwwww."

So the details of the Leach suspension basically indicate that an ESPN analyst complained that his son was sent to a shed commonly used by players to avoid the sun because he had a concussion and people who suffer from concussions should avoid direct sunlight. www.sbnation.com/2009/12/28/1222746/mike-leach-suspended-texas-tech-alamo-bowlSo it sounds like Leach was looking out for an injured player and the player didn't like it. Based on this information, I'm siding with the coach here. This doesn't sound like abuse in any stretch of the definition.

From what is being reported, he was a sub-par player, and since he couldn't play, complained to his dad, and blew everything out of proportions. There is a lot of former and current players sticking up for Leach, as well. From the looks of things, this kid is just trying to get attention. I also think that there is a dislike between Craig Adams and Leach, as Leach once called Craig like "A little league dad". I also like the part of the link posted that said people are getting bunched up over nothing, and it's furthering the "wussification of America". He was in an air conditioned closet. God knows I've been put in worse for less. I'm sure most posters here have, as well.
