A new "Track Pack" CD has been announced for Rock Band. Rock Band Country Track Pack. This 21 song CD retails for $30 (would be $42 on the Music Store, but as you can download individual songs, I'd recommend just waiting until the songs come to the music store). They include: Previous avaliable, re-released on this cd: Drive Bye Truckers - 3 Dimes Down (from Alt-Country pack) Lucinda Williams - Can't Let Go (from Alt-Country pack) Steve Earle - Satellite Radio (from Alt-Country pack) Dirks Bentley - Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go) (from Going Country 01 Pack) Brooks and Dunn - Hillbilly Deluxe (from Going Country 01 Pack) (a personal Rock Band favorite of mine!) Dixie Chicks - Sin Wagon (from Going Country 01 Pack) And new to the series, first off the disc, then on the Music Store: Alan Jackson - Good Time www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFzkzsCQhdwJason Aldean - She's Country www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVgbVACnoHoKenny Chesney - She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2KmzFABujMKenny Rogers - The Gambler www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu5W9G8s9YQMartina McBride - This One's For the Girl's www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MJwdY6Y0HwRascal Flats - Me and My Gang www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZsdDPd5gVAShania Twain - Any Man of Mine www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIqff16x1LEThere will be more songs announced the closer to release it gets. I'll update this post with the new releases. My thoughts: I am all OVER "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". Even if you don't like country, it's still a song that people will have fun singing along with. I already have "Free and Easy" and "Hillbilly Deluxe" (a personal favorite of mine in the game). Martina McBride is an amazingly underrated singer, who has a beautiful voice (her work with Jim Brickman was amazing). Her song may be worth the 160 MSPs. The rest are "meh" at best. I mean, I like some of Kenny Roger's stuff (yeah, I'll trade in my "man card" now, but I'm a hopeless romantic who enjoys ballads as much as anything else), but "The Gambler"... just not exactly Rock Band's style. Just like "Something in the Way" by Nirvana, it's just way too damn slow and "boring" to be a song worthy of a download. I will give them credit for expanding into a (according to their message board, at least) unpopular genre ("it's ROCK band, not COUNTRY band" is a mantra out there...), but most of the songs announced just don't sound too interesting. Plus, let's also get excited about the Pearl Jam live pack. I'd imagine, like the Track Packs, and the ACDC game, it'll contain a code that you can transfer all the songs to Rock Band 1 and/or 2. Track list includes live versions of songs that fans can vote on their favorite live versions. There was a post on here a while ago that included the songs. Plus, I'm hoping Lego Rock Band has songs transferable to Rock Band 1 and/or 2. Come on, "Final Countdown"!?!? Fans were clamoring for that one forever.... just put it in the real Rock Band, or at least release it on the Music Store...

DLC for 26 May (360) and 28 May (PS3) Ministry Pack 01: Cuz U R Next www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ3s25oI2OILiesLiesLies www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXIVoKrn9uQThe Great Satan www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTSeeAtUhPwThe Zombies pack She's Not There www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5IRI4oHKNUTell Her No www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cYdH46HqpESingle: The Cranberries - Linger www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPLXJAWUnwIMy thoughts: UGH! Bush is out of office. For God's sake, can we stop with these anti-Bush songs?!? Rock Band has quite a few songs that are anti-war/anti-Bush, but come on... Plus, it's no secret that I'm not a fan of scream-core, metal, or any of those genres, so I'll skip those. I think it was Cuz U R Next, around 1:20 into the song, it reminded me a LOT of Collective Soul's "Shine"... Yeah... The Zombies, and they aren't adding their best known (and probably only known, I've never heard of either of the downloadable songs, but what do I know about late 60's music?) song, "Time of the Season"? "Linger" is an okay song, but I'd imagine it'd be very boring in Rock Band. I'd much prefer "Zombie", as that song has a pretty memorable bass line. I'll pass this week.

I can see the end part of Hallowed Be Thy Name causing slight problems for some singers (not too much for me, though, because I'm awesome like that ), especially since it's the live version where the notes are held even longer than usual. Too bad this pack doesn't include Rime of the Ancient Mariner, that would have been a blast.

DLC for 2 June Boonaroo Pack Ben Harper and Relentless7 - "Shimmer & Shine" www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTMqPTIbvzICoheed and Cambria - A Favor House Atlantic"\ www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieWeFnwd4vQCoheed and Cambria - The Running Free www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE2e2Gf8NAkPhish - Wilson (live) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRnueJP2k9AShooter Jennings - Steady at the Wheel www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOtTZ2Ks_48TV on Radio - Wolf Like Me www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTy-e6qEWREMy thoughts: Another "pass" week. Nothing here interests me at all. Next week (Iron Maiden) may interest me a little, but nothing this week. Sorry, HMX, but you get no money from me this week. Coheed and Cambria.. they only have 1 good song, and it was already in Rock Band. Anyway, Harmonix usually waits until E3's duration itself to put out good stuff, so this is probably just some contractual obligation, just to get out of the way. We'll see what comes out 14 June and on. Hopefully we'll get more Weezer (finish the Blue Album, give us the Green Album, I don't care, just spare us more Red, please), or something else huge to counteract announcements of big names for Guitar Hero 5.

After listening to it a few more times, I'm getting more and more intrigued by Shooter Jennings. I may just give it a shot...
