It surprises me that "Dragonball" and "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" aren't on this list. The fact that they aren't just makes me think that they are indeed, the worst. They're so bad you don't even want to acknowledge them by actually listing them on the poll. Not surprising.
With that said, Transformers 2 has the highest votes? Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but the worst of 2009? Maybe it's because I'm not the biggest Transformers fan, but I didn't think it was quite as bad as you all apparently do. It didn't blow my mind, but it wasn't quite as bad as a lot of the other choices on the poll. I mean, it's worse than Jennifer's Body? It's worse than Land of the Lost? ...really?
But hey, that's my opinion. As is all of yours, as well.

The Goods so far and I'm a big Jeremy Piven fan. Yes I didn't mind him being the Guest GM.

While not bad, I felt the first half of Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen was too slow and focused too much on being hip.

Oh I had forgotten about that Dragonball film .... that would actually get my vote thiinking about it. Transformers 2 was fine, it was a mindless action film about giant robots hitting each other. It wasn't meant to be anything more. Except it wasn't about giant robots, it was about dogs humping, a mad women on weed, Shia Le Beouf getting seduced by a Species rip off, John Turturro in his underwear, robots saying ass and p****. Where was the fighting exactly? The big wheel thing at the start, the handicap match between OP, v MN & SS Devastator (albiet being absolutley useless) The entire last 40 minutes or so of the film in the desert. How much robot fighting did you want?

Any time you make one of these polls, you are bound to leave something off. Honestly, Dragonball Z and Street Fighter weren't on my radar, so I neglected them.
As for why the Watchmen was on the list, its a pretty polarizing film. A lot of people found it very disappointing, and a film that is disappointing can leave a worse taste in your mouth than one that was merely bad.

The Dragonball Movie, Good thing they were online versions before the movie came out. The only thing relevant to the source was the dragonbals and the rest was ugh. Why is Goku character not the character we all knew and loved?

H2. I've never seen it, but, a friend of mine was in it for like half a second as an extra, and she still won't STFU about it.

The only one I saw out of all those movies was Transformers 2, even though I saw the Watchmen, which I thought was pretty cool. I never truly hated it but I don't care to see it again.

Transformers 2 was probably the worst movie I personally saw, though I imagine New Moon, Legend of Chun-Li, and Dragonball: Evolution were worse.
Also, I loved Watchmen.

It surprises me that "Dragonball" and "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" aren't on this list. I'm not surprised. Nobody watched them in theatres? Can't blame anyone for refusing to admit that they paid to see either piece of corn. With that said, Transformers 2 has the highest votes? Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but Why is it that every time someone tries to defend Michael Bay, they always start their argument with this line? Always. Its defeatist, like they admit Bay's garbage is crap, but surely it can't be the worst crap that year, right? Right? Is TR2 the worst movie of 2009? Probably not. Probably some DTV releases in the action or horror genres were more shoddily produced, worse acted, bigger wastes of time. But I didn't see them. I saw TR2. the worst of 2009? Maybe it's because I'm not the biggest Transformers fan, but I didn't think it was quite as bad as you all apparently do. Let's put it this way. In almost every Bay movie, he has very expensive rich budgets ($150-200+ million range), the best casts that money can buy, and god knows how much effort, time, and sweat was put into the pyrotechnics and CGI by ILM. So what's his excuse? He has the keys to the kingdom, no excuses, to make watchable popcorn. Tell me, what's his excuse? Which if its a director's life ambition, that's cool. As long as they make it exciting, compelling, make me care what happens...about what we all expect at the least from cinema. Bay is stale popcorn. A complete waste of time. A hack. And surely not the illegitimate son of John Frankenheimer. At least that legend made some good films. Some with the budget of Transformers 2's trailer. I just don't get why Uwe Boll gets worse crap than Bay. Boll's movies suck, but they're borderline direct-to-DVD, handful of theatres with a shoestring budget (for Hollywood standards). In other words, who cares? When was the last time you got bombasted in your life by commercials/product tie-ins for a Boll release? Unlike a certain other fellow... I give Boll credit. He challenged his critics to boxing matches, and beats them like a drum. And even I think found peace with the fact that he's the Ed Wood of the 2000s. A certain sense of C-level celebrity infamy, like Amy Fisher levels. But dammit, you know the name of Uwe Boll! Also I sorta became a fan of his when someone presented him with that infamous petition (with 200,000+ signatures) calling him to quit making movies, he promised he would retire. For a million signatures.

I don't get the hate for the Watchmen either. That was an excellent movie throughout. The only people who seem to hate that movie are basically the ones who haven't read the comic. Sure, there are a few changes, but I think those changes made the movie better.

Sure, there are a few changes, but I think those changes made the movie better. Well I read the book. And I thought it was rather lackluster. Not much of a cast (Haley was terrific though), and well even if I hadn't read the book, I knew who the villain was early on. {Spoiler}Because "smart" people who speak in monotone are ALWAYS EVIL in the movies! ah ha! Then again, what does one expect from the subtle nuanced intelligent filmmaker of 300? Remember, Zach Snyder INVENTED running zombies. Yup he took credit. That Dan O'Bannon dude who made Return of the Living Dead 20 years earlier? He doesn't exist. A myth. Snyder is a visionary filmmaker. The commercials said so. That 300 "novel"? He wrote it, that Frank Miller guy just stole his credit. He's also fiction. A myth.

I saw The Legend of Chun-li, and it was probably the worst movie i've seen all year, but I kinda expected it to be.
I didn't like Watchmen. I was never interested in the comic book, but wanted to see what all the fuss was about and I was underwhelmed.
Wolverine would have been better without Barakapool, but my main gripe with that movie is the last fight. I hate the obvious CG background when they were fighting on that tower or pillar, whatever that was. They could have done a better job on the background and it kinda killed the last fight for me.
I actually liked G.I. Joe and Transformers 2. I grew up on Transformers and G.I. Joe, but I don't have high expectations for action movies anymore. They are what they are, action movies made to entertain, so they didn't really bother me.
I've avoided all of the other movies because they don't interest me at all.

LOL...I'm glad we got Snyder for that film instead of Rattner or Bay though. Half the goddamn movie would have been Manhattan shooting fireballs out of his dick and Rorschach and Nite Owl would have been racist caricatures of African Americans and Asians respectively, not to mention Megan Fox as Spectre.

I had three basic problems Watchmen.
1. It was too long. I know Zack Snyder was trying to be faithful to the book, but couldn't he cut some of the flashbacks to streamline the movie a little.
2. I didn't like any of the characters. They were either bland, psychotic, or complete assholes. I know you need your characters to have flaws but there wasn't a single person I wanted to root for.
3. Three words: giant blue wang.

Half the goddamn movie would have been Manhattan shooting fireballs out of his dick and Rorschach and Nite Owl would have been racist caricatures of African Americans and Asians respectively, not to mention Megan Fox as Spectre. You know, Bay and Snyder are remarkably alike. Listen to those two sometime. You know how dumb people, insecure of their ignorance around others, try to sound intelligent when they open their mouth? Bay is more obnoxiously obvious about it, but Snyder is close. I'm not the biggest fan of the "at least" argument. I remember when Terminator 3 came out and everyone was so happy because it wasn't as bad as everyone thought it would. Yet it wasn't exactly good either. Disposable, forgettable, ballsy ending. Some context is always nice, and yes even looking on the bright side of life (*whistle*), but does that mean we have to excuse mediocrity?

Not to deny you your point Rich, but I always thought that was one of the points of the comic in that superheroes, if real, would be just as flawed as the rest of us. So why would you put your faith in these kind of individuals? It has been a while since I've read the comic book, however.

Why is it that every time someone tries to defend Michael Bay, they always start their argument with this line? Always. Its defeatist, like they admit Bay's garbage is crap, but surely it can't be the worst crap that year, right? Right?Well, I'm not necessarily defending Michael Bay. I'm defending the movie. I guess in doing so, I inadvertently defend Bay. I'm not Bay's biggest fan. I'm not really a fan, I guess. The only two Bay movies that I own are both Transformers movies. There's no other movies that he's done that really pique my interest. He's not a director that I see on a marquis and think "Holy cow, I need to see this movie!"; and believe me, I can't fathom that he's doing Nightmare on Elm Street, given his past work. With that said, a lot of people do have an axe to grind with Michael Bay. I don't really keep tabs on him, so I don't really know what he's said in interviews nor do I really know his philosophy in regards to making movies. I pretty much know he's "Mr. Explosion", and it certainly shows. It seems to me that he's comparable to Vince Russo in that people just hate his mentality towards the business that makes him money. He's all "hollywood"...which is a dumb thing to say in regards to a movie director, but..."all style, no substance", I guess. In regards to Transformers 2: It did have a lot of bad in it. It's the kind of movie where during any scene involving the humans you're prompted to yell "TRANSFORMERS, everybody!". It also had a lot of dumbass humor, and gratuitous action at blinding paces. In spite of all that, I can't hate it. I look at the movie and I don't see it as a "Michael Bay" movie...I guess I just see it as a stupid action movie that's fun for a laugh every now and again. With that viewpoint in mind, that's why I see the others movies on the list as being worse.
