I am so, so sorry for your loss, Ani. It truly has been a hard year for a lot of us. I lost my grandfather, and my girlfriend lost her grandmother. I hope that you can carry the light that she left in the world for all time, my friend. *hugs*
Rest In Peace.

Just got my suit for the wake and everything. We're having the wake Saturday and Sunday (because she pretty much knew everyone in our town. Had a great personality ;D) then the funeral is on Monday with the burial either a few days or a week afterwards.

Saw the obituary the local paper here printed and there are a ton of typos in it What a way to start the new year. At least it beats how at my grandma's funeral, some lady who worked there felt the need to speak at her service, getting her name wrong a few times, and talking at length about her without knowing her a day in her life. Sit the f*** down, lady, you're making her actual family angry. All the same, though, I'm sorry man. I wish people in the industry showed more reverence.

No one knew how to react to such an insensitive display.

Just got back from the first wake...very tough. The funeral home did a great job with Grandma though (it was open casket.)
Two more wakes (both on Sunday), mass on monday, and then the burial left to go.

Had the funeral mass today. Next week is the burial although today was really the major "say goodbye" day. Spoke a short eulogy for her and broke down after the mass when I placed the rose on her casket. Afterwards a lot of people came over to the house for food and we all remembered her.
I'm pretty much at the acceptance stage now. I'm ready to move on to a new chapter of my life without her.

Well, I think I can speak for everyone on the boards here saying that we're here to support you if you need anything. I know when I lost my Grandma back in 2002, it helps a lot to talk and have people there.
Good luck and praying for you.
