I don't even follow Death Note and I have to ask:

I'm so happy that Azumanga Daioh's Clever writing pushed aside Lucky Star's confused writing.

FCFL deserves the No.1 spot due to it's great character design, and still shows that Anime can still be placed with the Legends.

But Death Note, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Metropolis and BECK should be higher due to their great writing, and their attempt to try something different.

Gurren Lagann should have been abit higher, out of the top five due to it's very bad Years Later series. but in the top 10 for it's fantastic first series.

And don't get me started on Haruhi being in front of Hayao Miazaki, that's like putting Ben 10 in front of Fantasia.

Wow, I've seen 5 of those.

Those 5 being Death Note, Gundam SEED, Metropolis, some of Miyazaki's flicks, and FLCL.

I highly enjoyed all of those, but man, I'm out of the loop.

SEED was a very popular series here and in Japan. It started out slow but got awesome after episode 17. Destiny was like the reverse. Started out decent, started losing steam after 17, picked up a bit more around 25, looked like it was going to be awesome around 33, then episode 39 happened and we got the "I shut down the reactor" bullshit and Kira happened.

Don't, just watch Stargazer if you haven't all ready and if you do watch Destiny just stop after 38. Destiny got screwed over harder than 00 *But still got better treatment than X and F91* mainly because Fukowada's wife *One of the other writers was a bitch to work with and was constantly late on scripts. When the VA's for Shinn and Lunmaria called her out on it she convinced Fukowada to continually write them out more and insert Kira and Lacus more nad make Athrun look better *She got along with the VA's for them* but even they were calling her out on her bullshit. Then the scripts kept coming in later and later so the episodes were rushed badly. Shinn and Lunamaria both lost about 200 IQ points in the last five episodes. The Kira was responsible for the death of Shinn's family storyline was cut *It's prettty obvious that it was Kira's fault they died, the Calamity was close to where Shinn's family were escaping and Kira was aiming right down at it*. But still nothing will top the rage everyone felt at episode 39.

I agree that it probably shouldn't be higher than Miyazaki's work, and I also know you seem to hate everything that has anything at all to do with otaku culture and anime fandom for some reason, but The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is an excellent series and deserves to be near the top of this list.

I'd say something about the Ben 10 comparison, but then again, you do know more about both Japanese and Western animation than I do so I'll just go away before I embarrass myself with my ignorance and wrong opinions.

It's a list of what one set of anime nerds thinks is good, based on their own arbitrary criteria. That being said, Cowboy Bebop and Trigun not on the list? RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!
