If this link doesn't work, I apologize; I'm on my way out the door and don't know if/when I'll get a chance to fix it. It works for me, but I don't know if it will work for anyone else.

It doesn't surprise me, but it makes me mad noneoftheless. This world has become greedy and self-indulgent. And critics have panned this game to be the worst Hawk game yet.

WTF?!?! Poor kid man. How do you even respond to this? I hope the guy get's life.
It's sad that whenever I read a thread title, I always instinctively think, "Please don't let it be a Hispanic name this time." Is it a true reflection, media bias, or do I just notice it more often because I have a stake in it? Of course that's not taking in the background some of these people come from and the conditions they live in, but regardless.

This is this generation's gaming culture in a nutshell. Some gamers want to enjoy themselves, while others want to ruin it.
While some resort to racial slurs, there are some idiots who do physical harm, like that jackass.

Wow, really?! How can someone even have the thought of doing that to a KID OVER A VIDEO GAME!! Stabbing someone alone is horrible, (unless it is in self defense) but in that situation? I would have been pissed if I was that kids parents.
Man that just angers me.
A nine year old boy killed over a video game that he loved . . . it's sad.
Rest in Peace Anthony Maldonado, you died to soon.

Sigh....
I really hate trying to understand the sense in stuff like this. I'm 25, and I'd never do anything like that. I just don't get it.

The guy has to have some sort of mental disorder, and the grandpa kinda hinted at it in his interview saying that the guy had a lot of problems when he wasn't in the house. I want to know why they left the poor kid alone with a guy like that.

Why did he do it? to steal the game or because the kid beat him at it or something.

I want to know why they left the poor kid alone with a guy like that. Let alone letting the kid stay up until 3am. I know they were family and all but if that were my kid and I knew how the living arrangement was, I wouldn't let my kid stay there.

Where does it say he was actually killed over the game? It seems like this has no motive so far.

Why did he do it? to steal the game or because the kid beat him at it or something. The thing is we don't know why he did it. The fact that from the varying articles on this that the man apparently just suddenly turned uber violent makes me think the dude was doing drugs or something and had drug rage. No sane person goes into a murderous rage at the drop of a hat. And if the dude was insane, why let a 9 year old near him in the first place?

25 year old playing with a 9 year old at 3 AM... Whaaaaa? Yeah, that is one of the things sticking out to me. Also, the game is incidental to this. A 25 year old killed a 9 year old, if it wasn't this, it would have been something else to set him off.

I want to know why they left the poor kid alone with a guy like that. This is what I thought. It's not likely as simple as "game induced tantrum". This generation has issues with greed and anger, as any do, but the problem related to this is one that we've never had an easy answer to: neglectful care of the handicapped and safety issues as a result. There's no telling how, or if, this could of been prevented without knowing more of what could be wrong with him, not that it excuses him as much as it implicates others as also culpable. Video games are in the story, sure, but that's like saying he died because they wore shoes. I'm doubting it's even remotely relevant to the violence.

Yeah, that is one of the things sticking out to me. Also, the game is incidental to this. A 25 year old killed a 9 year old, if it wasn't this, it would have been something else to set him off. It really depends. It could have been that he was pissed off at losing and that's what triggered it. If that was the case, he wouldn't stab him if they were reading a book. In that way, I'm not ready to say the game was incidental. Not at fault, yes, but having nothing to do with it? It's too early to tell.

Too early to actually confirm that he was "killed over a video game". From the article, everything related to motive is purely speculative at the moment, with the media obviously going for sensationalism with a headline like that.
Having said that, still no excusable reason for that sort of murder to be committed.
