Yeah, I graduated in 2001 and can't remember half the stuff that was popular then. I graduated in '01 as well. I'd say the biggest thing was security and stuff. I had a friend who was busted for writing a bomb threat in 2000 (something that had been hundreds of times by quite a few kids, apparently just to get out of class.) He got expelled, but no criminal charges were brought. As for fads and stuff, I'm not really sure what happened after I left, even though my sister was still going there. Probably the biggest thing that I missed out on was online gaming. It definitely existed to a decent degree in 2001, but I'd say at least 90% of people with internet only had dialup at home at that point so it was pretty limited.

Man, I feel a little old. I graduated in '93, and I am having trouble remembering things from high school that got bigger after I graduated. Nirvana blew up my senior year, but I guess you could say that they got a little bigger after graduation.

Well, I graduated in 2002. So it take a long time to name everything that became popular after High School. Lets see
Social Networks: Myspace and Facebook wasn't there. American Idol: Didn't start (Wish it never did) Youtube Someways Cell Phones: Texting was just starting I think or was about too. Most people had phones but the stuff we have now for them. I think all that was there was phone calls.
I look back at High School. emo didn't happen until after. With that weird hair cut. We had more goth groups then that. What is more amazing is what popular then and not now. Britney Spears, Christina and Avril and the boy bands where picking then. The Boy Bands are gone. Christina has dropped off as well as Avril since she got married. Carsan Daily's TRL was big and now the whole show is gone. The girls could not stop talking about Friends the next day after the new one showed. Now that show been gone. Yeah like the 01 stuff a lot of that was still in 02. Alone with rap period. Don't forget the No Doubt.

I still remember when Family Guy was on in HS but it wasn't really big. In fact, I had one friend who watched it religiously when it was changing nights and airing randomly.

Harry Potter got big after I graduated in 2000. It went from just books to a whole movie franchise.
Dragonball Z was big in 2000, and grew even bigger, along with Anime.
Energy Drinks grew bigger. When I was in High School, the only one I could remember was Bawls.
Comic book movies. After X-Men was a success, Comic films usually made tons of money.
Reality Shows. Dora the Explorer. CSI. Adult Swim. All of these started in 2000.
Don't forget downloading music.

I graduated in 2004 so... Myspace/Facebook/Twitter Youtube Twilight saga "Scene" Kids Ipods/Iphones
probably don't remember much more due to me not really caring enough to follow trends as religious as I did when younger.

Well, I "left" high school in 06, so that would give up: Twitter Facebook as an all encompassing social networking site iPhones (hell, touch screen cell phones in general. Nevermind the fact that Pals/Handspring had been making variants of touch screen cell phones/PDAs since 1999 at the latest) Netbooks Guitar Hero Aaaannnd... Kelly Clarkson I'll see my way out.

If my memory serves me correctly, Beavis and Butthead were just getting started around 1993.

Hell, all I have to really do to date myself is answer the question with "Internet Explorer". Hell, I remember when Netscape was the "next big thing", and when it cost a damn quarter to send an email (damn Prodigy).

As to what got big after I left school ... everything.

Uhhh. I don't know. What has gotten big in the last two and a half years?(graduated 2007) Twitter is all that I can think of. Although it was already around it wasn't until about a year ago that it got huge pop culturally.
Even though I'm only 21 I don't do a lot of things that people around my age do. My cell phone doesn't have texting and I don't have an iPOD. In fact I still listen to CDs on a portable CD player...........every year I say this the more people think I'm really old.
I also don't have any clothes that are younger than 4 years.

I couldn't believe it when I finally got a better connection through the cable line and used Netscape for the first time. And then, just a few years later, you could BUY things through the internet! WOW! And no, not being sarcastic at all. Just amazing to think where we started and where we are now.

I graduated in 2005.
Of course Facebook and Myspace like everyone else has said, but while I was IN school, Xanga was the social networking site of choice.
Cell phones also became way more available. I don't know if it was only because I went to school in a small-ish town (4,000-5,000 population) but only a few students actually had cell phones. Now you see middle school and even elementary school kids carrying them.
Cheap fast food seems to have become pretty big as of late. I don't actually remember the dollar menu before my senior year, and I only remember McDonalds having one during my senior year, but it seems like now every fast food joint has their version of a dollar or value menu.
