Can someone tell me about this? I'm beginning to get into more broad british comedy and it was recommended.

It's awesome check out clips on youtube to check if you like it's style of comedy.
It's basically a satire of history from different time periods. This was before Rowan Atkinson became Bean and to be honest he should have stuck with Blackadder.

The sound of hoof beats 'cross the glade Good folk, lock up your son and daughter Beware the deadly flashing blade Unless you want to end up shorter Black Adder, Black Adder, he rides a pitch black steed Black Adder, Black Adder, he's very bad indeed Black: his gloves of finest mole Black: his codpiece made of metal His horse is blacker than a hole His pot is blacker than his kettle Black Adder, Black Adder, with many an cunning plan Black Adder, Black Adder, you horrid little man.
But... seriously awesome show... I rate it way above Bean... but "Thin Blue Line" is also another Atkinson show to check out.

You can't go wrong with Rowan Atkinson. Best thing to come out of England since The Beatles...hell, better than the Beatles.

{Spoiler}The end of the final episode is probably one of the most poignant things seen on TV. True, so true ... I remember watching that And fans of House will see a pre House Hugh Laurie playing mostly a twit. He was great in A Bit of Frye and Laurie as well. Anyway, Rowan Atkinson was great in these series. Personally, I think his best work was in these 4 series and The Thin Blue Line.

BA kinda reminds me of Iznogoud as they're both surrounded by half twits , they're both power hungry and both have schemes that ends up biting em in the a** lol LOL the x-mas special where the x-mas carollers gets the door slammed in their faces cuz BA think they suck

You've got Rowan Atkinson,Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry, Tim McInnis, etc. The four series are all worth watching. And yes the final section of the final episode of Blackadder Goes Fourth is tear worthy.

Blackadder The Second through Blackadder Goes Forth are all brilliant. The first series is hit and miss. I advise watching the second series first.

Avoid the first series It's absolute crap, Even those behind it think so The first one is great in its own way, and is well wroth a watch. While it might not be as quick witted as the rest of the series it does manage to tell a good story, and it certainly isn't short on great jokes. I also love the way it ties so well into British history.

Surely you can't forget that Blackadder the Second episode where the crew enlist the help of Tom Baker and his pirate boat to invade France, and end up falling asleep from drink and being somewhere else entirely. America, I think it was?

Avoid the first series It's absolute crap, Even those behind it think so It's strange watchimg the first series now as it began with Blackadder being the dumb-ass and Baldrick being the brains of the operation!

{Spoiler}The end of the final episode is probably one of the most poignant things seen on TV. I concur. I watched this in History class because despite it being comedy there is a lot of historical accuracy.

I get goosebumps every time I watch the end of the last series. Amazing T.V.
And seriously one of the best comedies ever. Maybe even the best.
