So which situation is more interesting to all of you guys, the AFC playoff situation or the NFC situation? In the AFC, the top 4 are set and their placement is pretty well set as well, but there are many teams still in the hunt for a berth. In the NFC, the teams are set but no one knows where anyone is playing. If Minnesota wins tomorrow there is a good chance that both NFC first round games could be rematches of the previous week.

And the New York Football Giants are eliminated from the playoffs! The Dallas Cowboys have returned to the playoffs once again!

If Minnesota wins tomorrow there is a good chance that both NFC first round games could be rematches of the previous week. That's actually definitely what will happen. Vikings win one of their last two games, and Green Bay will play Arizona on the road in back-to-back games. The Dallas/Philly game on Sunday decides homefield for the following week. Nice little preview of things to come.

I'm more interested in the NFC situation simply because it isn't the huge clusterf*** that the AFC situation is right now. So many teams can get a playoff spot that it is ridiculous. They almost have as many teams in the running for the playoffs as there are spots in the playoffs!
There are 5 teams fighting over the 2 wildcard slots. That's insane.

Someone help me out here: Who are the 5th and 6th seeds in the AFC currently? I know one of them is the Jets, but I'm getting different info on what seed they are and what team has the other.

Jets and Ravens are currently it. I think the Jets are 5th and the Ravens are 6th, but that can change fairly easily next week.

Right now the Jets are #5. Ravens are #6, ONLY because of their head to head win over Denver. Otherwise, Denver would still be in the top 6.

Bengals lose Maualuga for the rest of the year to a broken ankle, the Steelers are still alive in the playoffs, the Colts head coach Jim Caldwell pusses out of 15-0, Cowboys are in for sure, and UK loses their first bowl game in 4 years.
Not a great day for me, gotta say.

I hope the Ravens and Steelers win their games next week because I chosed these two teams to take the final 2 Wild Card spots.
One of them or the Texans.

Also, doesn't it just feel like last week that The Saints hung those huge points on the Eagles and Lions, that the Bengals lost that game in the final seconds on the Brandon Stokley miracle, and the Boys opened the new stadium losing to the Giants?
I swear, this season just went by in a flash. Can't believe it's already Week 17.

I see it in my nightmares all the time.

So the Colts are in a close game with the Jets and they're a game and a half away from history... and they decide to sit Manning? Seriously? The miniscule risk that he'll get injured is worth throwing away your chance at achieving what so few have done?
I used to like the Colts - after what they did in 2007 week 17 I soured on them, but when Dungy retired I sort of dropped the grudge. But this just sickens me. They have a real shot at history and they give it away. Is 2 quarters of extra rest really going to be the difference in their playoff run?
Not only that, but you think they would've learned by now that every year they rest their starters late in the year they're rusty early in the playoffs and have an early exit. The one year they didn't lock up a high seed and they actually had to play through week 17 was the year they hit the ground running in the playoffs and became superbowl champions. Gee, lesson to be learned here? Apparently not. What they're doing right now disgusts me. Screw that franchise.
If I were Manning I would've refused to come off the field. What are they going to do, declare him inactive for the next game? I've never seen a team so close to historical greatness decide to tank it. No fight in them at all. I don't understand how you could pass this chance up.
I really hope they lose their first playoff game in a blowout. It will be the most satisfying thing to happen this year in the NFL. Its just disgusting. They way they crapped all over their fans and the NFL at large. You play the game...every game...to win. You don't just blew your shot at immortality like that.
It doesn't even make sense. Such a horrible move. Basically you pull the starters late in the 3rd. Next week they will barely play if at all THEN you have a bye week before the 1st playoff game. So basically they have 2 1/2 weeks to be out of sync, kill their momentum and disappoint the fanbase going into their home playoff game.
The Colts are what's wrong with some teams in the NFL. They play with agenda's, and ruin the integrity of the game. They basically gave the Jet's a free win that also just interfered with several other teams playoff chances. You play to win the game period. The Colt's decided to not play. They might as well just forfeited the game since they had already decided that they would only play hard for one half. Even their own fans know that this was a bad move and it undermines the league.
