To this day, I would say that Suikoden II is my all time favorite game. It had a great battle system, a engaging and lengthy story, awesome characters & of course... cooking battles. Shame it's rare as hell if I recall correctly. also, best villain ever. yes. Luca Blight is better than Kefka. and I like Kefka.

Suikoden is hands down my favorite RPG series.
When Odessa dies saving the child, and everything horrible put in the main characters way you have to feel bad.
Suikoden 2 was great for the same reason, and I loved Suikoden 3 because it had the same heart.
For some reason though they let go of the original creator and writer half way though 3, and I honestly think every game since then has been a vain attempt to recapture the glory.
If they ever make another they need to bring back Flik and Viktor hell make them main characters and bring us back into the world. Not a world like it, or from five hundred years before or after the original.

I dunno if Flik and Victor would work as main characters. they work better as foils for the main character. and to be honest, they were getting kinda old (Viktor more than Flik) in Suikoden 2, if they appeared again it'd have to be a couple years after 2 and IMO there's way more interesting stories to be told elsewhere in the timeline than focusing even more on the 20 year span between 5-1-2-3.

Exactly, one of the best things about the Suikoden series is that the lands and some of the characters have very deep rich histories. Personally I would like to see more games set in the past, and later on see some set in the future maybe even see some set in a technological time that is much like our present now. First however I would like to see them go all the way back, and explain the origins of the true runes. I know that there is the story of the sword and shield rune, and how they formed the Suikoden world, but I have always see that story more as folk lore It would be really cool if they went back to the beginning and showed some origins. One Idea that I had would be a storyline with the original 108 heros killing the god that created the Suikoden world. Basically when the god dies it would leave behind the 27 true runes that would be split up among some of the 108 heroes. It would be a great chance to really expand on back stories. Like some of the original 108 who end up with true runes could be Jeane (even though she supposedly doesn't have a true rune), Vicky, Yubber, Pesmerga, Sierra, Hikusaak, heck even Geddoe. Who knows the possibilities are really endless with the series.

Jeane doesn't have a true rune. she's like Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, it's a different Jeane in every game.

Jeane doesn't have a true rune. she's like Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy, it's a different Jeane in every game. Jeane is the same lady in every game. There are many hints throughout the games that pretty much establish that Jeane is very very old. In Suikoden 5 if you take Jeane to recruit the giant turtle he will tell you that he senses a very old soul in Jeane, but can't figure out why since she looks so young. Who knows maybe she is one of the mysterious Sindar.
