Thought we could post some examples of these. For example, I had no idea 'till today that there was a TV series based on the movie Uncle Buck:
or Ferris Bueller

There was a spin off to Look who's talking called Baby talk with Scott Baio and Tony Danza as the voice of the baby.

Didn't even know it existed until a little bit earlier today. Not completely terrible...but nothing close to the movie. Granted, Dumb & Dumber is my favourite comedy of all time...so that's pretty tough to top.

Ace Ventura and The Mask were both cartoons.
Almost I believe Fast Times at Ridgemont High became a TV show.

I'm going old school on all of you and we have the movie, "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" A movie about a couple of swinger couples, and now we have a TV show based on the movie. I don't have a youtube thing of it, but it ran for a short time on CBS back in 1974 and the movie came out in 1969.

Clerks the Animated Series. It's got a cult following, which last time I checked is pretty much one of the definitions of obscure.

i'd nominate the back to the future cartoon I see that and raise you the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures cartoon. And the Teen Wolf cartoon, that had almost no similarities to the movie.

There was a short lived Dirty Dancing TV show.
I seem to recall a TV show of A League Of Their Own.
There was a crappy live action Bill And Ted show.
Robocop had a show that only lasted a season or two.
And speaking of Clerks, there was a pilot for a TV show starring Jeff Anderson as Dante. (Yes, you read that right.)

i'd nominate the back to the future cartoon I see that and raise you the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures cartoon. The cartoon was better than the live action show on Fox. God, what a crapfest that show was. And there was a short lived series based on the movie Remo Williams. It was no where near as cheesy enough and it was axed.

I think Robocop actually had two animated series. Two series for a movie that wasn't even REMOTELY made for kids. ;D Yeah, from what I understand, the Clerks show was going to be AWFUL. I don't think Kevin Smith was allowed to have any input into it at all. Pretty glad it didn't get picked up.

The Outsiders
It isn't exactly obscure considering it had a good four year run but lets keep the 90s thing going. ;D

Friday the 13th the series It actually had nothing to do with the movies. And if the commercial I saw last night was real and not a hallucination, they are apparently doing a new Parenthood tv show. Also:Animal house

In Fairness, I knew and loved the TV Series of Weird Science before I ever learned it was based on a movie.
Animal House had a one season run as a tv show. I think the same actor that played Flounder was in the TV Show too.
Dangerous Minds had a TV show for one season too.
