At the time neither. I didn't like either of them, I thought Bret was a whiney bitch and Shawn was an annoying arrogant turd.
But over time Shawn has become one of my favourites of all time.

I believed Bret was the face and I honestly thought he was in the right, but gosh darn it I was an HBK mark.

Bret. Shawn was the guy wearing some absolutely ridiculous attire and it really took years to get behind that. =P
With those chaps and the painters hat I thought it was only a matter of time until YMCA became his entrance music.

Bret. When I first started watching I was a Hart Foundation mark (Rockers were a close second), and that carried on throughout their careers.

Bret. I always preffered his style and overall wrestling ability. Shawn is a good performer, but a bit too flashy for my tastes.

Bret. Always has been, always will be. I hate Shawn Michaels and always have. Like Bret said, some snakes don't change their stripes.

Bret was in the right for me. Normally, I would of been on Shawn's side, since the belt was WWF's to do with as they pleased, but the length of time he lied and claimed to not know about it was Pete Rose levels of lying to fans.

As far as ability and the guy that I want to watch wrestle I have to say HBK.
But in terms of who's "side"?
Got to go with Bret.

I was a huge fan of Shawn's from his Rocker days so there was no way Bret was getting cheered over him by me.

Bret.
When I was a kid I knew too many arrogant, cliquey people that Shawn exuded. Bret seemed more the gritty, determined and successful get the job done and do it gracefully types. Definitely identified with that.

Bret is the "right" answer, but I always liked HBK better. And I always will. Bret's imminent return has stirred up a lot of new/revived animosity towards Shawn in a lot of fans, lately It seems like in general, there are more Bret fans who hate Shawn, than Shawn fans who hate Bret.

Anyone saw the poll on WWE.com?
What should be the first order of business for Bret Hart when he returns to Raw?

I have grown to appreciate Michaels' ring work in the last few years a lot more than before. Still - Bret. No ifs, no buts, no nothing.

Is this really a shock to you? What does Shawn or his fans have to be bitter about? Bret was the one who was wronged--whether you think he deserved it or not is a different issue. But he was clearly the victimized one, not Shawn.

Bret Hart all day long. He's the one of only a few wrestlers i can think of who consider Wrestling to be an art form and for that he will always be one of my favourites.

HBK is the greatest of all time, but during the matches he had with Bret, I always wanted Bret to win.

Bret I believe the screwjob was unnecessary. I believe Bret would have went on Raw the next night and surrendered the title. Vince was just too paranoid about things. The screwjob really devalued the title, but thanks to "Stone Cold" the title was restored with dignity.
