Is it just me or does Miller sound like he'd rather be anywhere else but there?

Dennis Miller stunk on MNF so why not just have him host RAW for 3 hours

I've been thinking that Evan Bourne needed a tag team partner...but I was hoping it wouldn't be someone who was already doing something.

He won a Slammy back in '97, try and Youtube it. I miss 97 Taker, as it he still had the deadman gimmick, but was actually allowed to cut promos in a regular human voice with regular human diction. The man is a monster on the mic, and I wish they'd let him show it. Maybe not to BikerTaker levels of badassery, but let him say something more than abstract jibber-jabber about souls and mortality and resting in peace. And to one of the previous posters... I too would laugh if WWE gave away Cena/Taker for free. That'd just be rich. That '97 Slammy win was Wrestlecrap. It involved a guy peeing himself.

Dennis Miller's material is gonna fly over 98% of the fans. The funny part, I remember when Dennis Miller got the MNF job Jim Ross mentioned in the Ross Report that it was a bad idea. Seeing as despite being a fan of Miller's work he felt that Miller's esoteric sense of humor would go over the crowd's head and would ultimately be a failure (which it was). And now they hire Miller to guest host the Slammys. Although, I'm sure part of that was JR taking the NFL to task for making a wrong move as a sincere opinion. But mostly it was probably because at the same time company man Ross was doing this since Vince was getting into football with the XFL at the time and felt the need to take a shot at their new competition. I think that even if Miller's act wasn't full of esoteric referrences and politics it'd still wouldn't go over. A wrestling show (even if it's an Award Show theme for the night) does not seem like the type of medium where monologue jokes and/or stand up comedy would go over well. Even if the show was hosted by someone like Jerry Seinfeld. I love how when they go back to Miller after the 6 man tag "How about another hand for Christian, Kane and the Great Khali!" like this is the Grammys and their going back to the host after a band/solo musician just performed. According to Goldberg's book, Miller's a wrestling fan. So atleast there's that....Right? I will also cosign onto the disappointment over Miller not coming out to "Everbody Wants to Rule The World" (which besides being the theme to his TV show, but also his stint as Weekend Update anchor). I was as big of fan of Miller's in his HBO days as anyone here, but I agree. He doesn't fit the mold for this gig precisely because his brand of humor consists of political barbs and usually obscure references. Most people in attendance tonight are young and are not gonna get a lot of the jokes. Then again, they did let Sharpton do this.

I think of Miller as a comedian before a political commentator. Why isn't he just being funny? I get most of his obscure references and historical name drops. We get it, Michael Moore is fat, Nancy Pelosi is "crazy." Be funny, Dennis. It really is what you were good at.

Oh yeah, he is an amazing talker and he really gets a dire presence over the microphone without saying 'souls' every second sentence. I feel you, man.

Is it just me or does Miller sound like he'd rather be anywhere else but there? That's why I think people hate the RAW host idea in general...I always get this "I hope no one catches me doing this wrestling thing" vibe from them. Well not the ones who are clearly fans, those are always the better shows
