Hans Landa, the Jew Hunter.
THE best villain of the year, and perhaps one of the most memorable for years to come, if ya axe me.

I had been dying to see this movie ever since I heard about it years ago. Saw it in theaters and loved every second of it. I'm not one of those people who sees a movie once and says it's their favorite, but this was the closest I ever came. Waltz deserves the Oscar, I don't know anybody else who captured their character like he did. And how wild is it that a nazi character was the most entertaining character this year? Haha.
Pitt was great as Aldo, and the introductions of Donnie and Hugo were great. I just thought this was a great film that had tension, comedy, and action. A perfect fun movie.

I can not express how much I loved Hans Landa, he was incredible, I've rewatched the opening with him and the farmer like 15 times, it's amazing.
I really didn't care for any of the Basterds, especially brad pitt, not being from the US I can't say what accent he was using, but it was atrocious.

My favorite film of 2009. Lt. Aldo will go down as Brad Pitts most memorable performance in my eyes.

I will now recite for you my top five Lt. Aldo "the Apache" Raine lines.
5. His entire opening speech. The whole thing. Especially "sound GEWD?"
4. Aldo: DONNY! Donny Donowitz: Yeah? Aldo: We got a German here who wants to die for his country! Oblige him!
3. "You know how you get to Carnegie Hall, doncha? Practice."
2. Aldo: Well I speak the most Italian, so I'll be your escort. Donowitz speaks the second most so he'll be your Italian cameraman. Omar speaks third most, so he'll be Donny's assistant. Omar Ulmer: But I don't speak Italian. Aldo: Like I said, third best. Just keep your f***in' mouth shut. In fact why don't you start practicing, right now.
1. Y'know, fightin' in a basement offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, you're fightin' in a basement.

Seriously, EVERYTHING Pitt says in this movie is hysterical.

Alright, I finally got to watch this today, and it was better than I expected. I was actually surprised.
As much as I'm starting to hate his "watch me point out vague references that only 5 other people have seen, I'm so clever" schtick, Tarantino is still SCARY good at creating characters.

Then Landa proceeds to test Aldo's "I-talian" the most, Donny's the second most and left Omar alone after like two attempts lol

"I'm callin' the Bear Jew over here, and he's gonna take that big-ole bat of his, and he's gonna beat you to death with it. Now take your wiener schnitzel lickin' finger and point out on this map what I want to know." Yes! I love how quickly the private points out where the ambush after seeing the Bear Jew's handy work. Also I loved how the rest of the Basterds hooting and hollering like a peanut gallery during the proceedings. Also "If you ever wanna eat another sauerkraut sam'ich again...." I might be biased but I really love the fact that the Bear Jew is mentions hitting one onto Landsdowne Street Hugo Stiglitz! I'm Lt. Aldo Raines and these are the Basterds. We're big fans of your work. Par-tic-u-lar-ly in the field of killing gnatsies! But you're just an amateur. How'd you like to go pro? "...Well you're not the circus midget they made you out to be"

Loved the movie...and Christopher Waltz should win the Oscar for Supporting Actor. Agreed! It's amazing how he could be so damn charismatic and evil and pull it all off while speak 4 separate languages. That is Oscar material!

To me this was the biggest example of "Quinton Tarantion is the next Shakespeare!" I don't mean that in a negative way, I mean that in the most positive way possible.
1) There was drama. I loved how the tension was rose and rose and rose and then it all just came exploded again. 2) There was the comedy. I loved the basterds themselves, along with the funy random cameos (Harvey Kietel, Julie Dreyfus just getting RAMMED, Sam Jackson). Those little winks to the audience - the old Universal logo, for example - had me softly chuckling. 3) There was the tragedy. Lots of it. I felt sympathy for Shosanna. Her whole family was killed, that was bad enough, but when you knew that she was slowly going down this path of revenge...Damn! 4) The acting was ON. From Pitt to Platz, jesus! Even Mike Myers.
I missed out on District 9, Star Trek, The Hangover and Up (And feel terrible for doing so) but I loved this movie. Out of the few I saw it was the best of the year.

As much as I love Tarantinos' movies I was a bit disapointed with this movie. I mean I thought it was decent, but I expected it to be a lot better than it was. Christoph Waltz who played Landa was really good in it though. Brad Pitt only had 45 minutes of screentime which was disapointing to me as well. I mean the movie is called "Inglourious Basterds" and the group isn't even in half of the movie. Definetely a mis-leading title if you ask me. Since others gave their orders of favorite-least favorite Tarantino movies I'll give mine as well.
Pulp Fiction>Reservoir Dogs>Kill Bill Vol 1>Jackie Brown>Kill Bill Vol 2>Inglourious Basterds>Deathproof

Lol, well regardless the title of the film is obviously a reference towards the group, but the main focus of the movie was on the woman who owned the theater, and Hans Landa. I just wish Tarantino tried to make a serious war film instead of a drama/dark comedy with mostly talking in a war setting.
