Yawn. Why was this movie made again? Oh right, it's fashionable and trendy to remake movies that are already perfect to begin with and people will see it regardless.

Neither is the first Star Wars. But I don't see anyone trying to remake that one....yet. The point is, remakes 99% of the time are lame and inferior to the original, so why bother?

The original sucked and this one looks worse.

I...actually think this looks pretty good. It's certainly not the original movie...but I wasn't exactly expecting that, either.

I don't know why, but I started chuckling the moment "Remember the Name" started up.
So cheesy.
EDIT: Also, Jackie Chan is here to pay his electric bill.

Same here. And Martial Arts wise I've heard nothing but good things about it seeing how Smith's kid took it seriously and is still practicing nowadays.

Like The Thing, Dawn of the Dead and Texas Chainsaw (Yeah I said it! OH BOY) Also, 99% is a bit of a stretch.

Alright, 98% cause John Carpenter's The Thing is an awesome movie, as well as Cronenberg's The Fly. Usually the horror movies can be remade pretty effectively or at least get enough fans of the genre to watch and enjoy. Non-horror remakes...98% of the time...stink. The Pink Panther....why?? And the shot-for-shot remake of Psycho was a waste of time, money and precious film.

The only amusing thing about this trailer is how Jackie Chan looks like an Oriental Eddie Guerrero.

Star Wars was a unique piece of filmmaking that blended together a number of different elements and tropes to form something unique and developed both a cult following and mainstream appeal. Karate Kid was a passible action/culture shock/teen romance/coming of age/chop socky flick that had been made with some or all of those elements, (if not more) hundreds of times before and since and is only remembered for the number of sequels, some truly improbable and impractical martial arts and a handful of quotes.
When they talk about remaking Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, Platoon, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pulp Fiction or The Dark Knight, then I'll buy that Hollywood's gone crazy with the remakes. Most films aren't unique or special enough that they don't warrant modernization or revisionism.

Take your jacket on, take your jacket off? Why did they change wax on, wax off? Because it's a coy remake change where everyone remembers what was in the original but now it's different. It's like an inside joke. *Smacks fly with flyswatter* Sigh.

How can you remake "The Karate Kid" without at least giving Joe Esposito a phone call? Also, in watching that trailer, only one thing kept running through my mind for the potential for success for this movie: "Get it a body bag! Yeeeeeeeeeah!"

And the Texas Crapfest Remake from Platinum Dunes sucked eight kinds of ass SIDEWAYS. Yes, sideways. THAT's how bad it sucked, IMO. Hell, not JUST in my opinion. I actually think that you'd be in the minority in liking that film, judging from the genuine hostility it (and to a much lesser extent, it's prequel) generated amongst fans of the franchise/character of Leatherface. I mean, I've sat and talked with fans of this film, and even though I'm amazed that they DO like it, they have their reasons. Not saying you're wrong for liking it, but I am saying I have met/spoken to a heck of a lot more people who DIDN'T care for it than those that did. Diffr'nt strokes for diff'rnt folks. ;D
