Isn't it weird that TNA has been more entertaining in the past few months than it possibly ever has withOUT the Hogan stuff, and now we're in for big changes that may torpedo the hell outta all of that? True. VERY true. However, TNA will never ever ever get past their current blockade without some mainstream, big-time names. It's sad that names like Kurt Angle and Sting can't pull in viewers, but it's all about that "casual" viewer that doesn't even know these guys are still wrestling. Hogan can bring that mainstream media attention.

This isn't news, they are just stating something that has already happened.
For the first 3 years I watched TNA, I never once heard the name Dixie Carter used on TNA programming. Over the past 3 or 4 months (around when Lashley debuted), they started using her name quite a bit and fully acknowledge her as the boss and she has appeared on camera on occasion. So now not only is she the TNA president in real life, but in the TNA storyline universe as well.
Now if the Observer is saying that she is going to be an on screen caricature of a boss a la Mr McMahon or Vince Russo in the popemobile, that's another story. I won't say it couldn't happen, but I'll believe it when I see it. And I haven't seen it yet. TNA really has its act together these days in my opinion.

Any casual fans I know act surprised if I tell them guys like the Dudleys, Foley, Angle, Sting, etc. are still wrestling in another company. Keep in mind these are people who dont really watch wrestling anymore, so they arent going to keep up to date on stuff like that. WWE drove them off so they just dont watch at all. Thats the sorta fan TNA has to aim towards. They must do that by advertising on other mediums and other sorts of shows that cater to similar demographics. Throwing out a commercial during RAW or something like that isn't going to do anything since WWEs ratings have dropped significantly and also I am sure even the stupidest WWE fan knows what happened to Kurt Angle or Mick Foley.

It makes you wonder if TNA had only picked up Kurt Angle which I say was a good move and maybe Christian... and nobody else (Steiner, Sting, Booker, Nash, etc.)... how much money they could've used to advertise their product versus thinking people just really want to see a bunch of old timers and know where they are?

I wish she would just take the Jack Tunney route, and be an on screen character when it's needed (or Cary Silkin to be a little more up to speed).

Actually she won't become a on screen character. Her role will be like the one Jim Crockett Sr. had only seen doing special events. Her name will come up alot but she won't interact with the wrestlers. Meltzer's trying to get his TNA bash ready thats all. Bischoff will do some on air roles but Dixie won't get involved with that.

TNA should just debut the first ever stable of authority figures. Dixie, Vince Russo, Eric Bischoff, Paul Heyman, and Shane McMahon.

She's already a character on the show, and she's perfectly fine in the generic authority figure role. But if the plan is to mold her into "Ms. Carter", then it'd just look uninspired.

She's going to form a partnership with Amazing Kong.
The world will bow to the might of Dixie/Kong.

I can't see Dixie becoming a mega heel like Mr McMahon. She barely has the mic skills to play a face, let alone be a believable villain.

So much for not getting involved in her own product. Funny what a dash of Hulkster can do to ya. Must've shown her where the power lies, brother.

I sure hope not....she lost any credibility I thought she may have had during that speech the other week.
Terrible move.

I actually feel kind of sorry for Dixie on this. She obviously wants to make TNA competitive and work and she was too right get rid of Jarrett (Midcarder for life) to forge ahead. Then she spends lots of money on Hogan and his flunkies (who has done next to nothing to help promote TNA except when it comes too his own ego and tour) and then that speech to the wrestlers and now this. She is getting pretty bad advice it seems probably from either that failed conmen Bishoff (Vastly overrated and so stupid he didnt know Vince was mocking him when he hired him) or that equally absurd clown Russo.
Its sad these sharks are taking her and TNA for a ride when now more than ever there needs to be a viable competitor for the Hunter and Shawn show (formerly called the WWF and WWE).
