the difference between a 1.3 and 1.0 is so miniscule it always makes me laugh when wrestling fans try to boast or bemoan anything. there's nothing wrong, provided they make money. ratings don't matter, and they never did. it's about finding the right advertisers for the network, and selling tickets/merch/ppvs for the company
The US ratings systems is pretty much a farce. It's simply about targeting a specific set of viewer at this point.

Plus, you have to look at the raw (no pun intended) number of viewers. According to gerweck, this week's show had 1.4 million. When they were pulling 1.3's, it equated to around 1.8 million viewers, which doesn't seem to be a huge difference, especially considering that one Nielson viewer represents thousands of regular viewers.

A drop of 20 percent, some 400,000 people, isn't significant? I recognise that it is far from an exact number, but that's pretty significant in my book - and in the eyes of potential advertisers, I expect. For it to be happening when TNA has got a fair bit of publicity is a particular concern.

That, or all his ideas end up being bizarre ploys for attention like making Sam Puckett and Carly Shay the Knockout tag champs. Not the actresses, the characters. If that meant Spencer doing commentary, bring it on. Naturally, this would mean Freddie would tape their matches, Alex Shelley style. Obvious joke: That way Lawler would put him through college as his number one customer. There, joke was made.

"Thursday, and Thursday, and Thursday, creeps in this petty rating from week to week. To the last syllable of the promotion's recorded history; and TNA's hype has lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief organization! TNA is but a walking shadow, a poor player. That struts and frets it's hour upon the stage. And then is heard no more. It is a tale told by several idiots full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

The positive: as has been said a bunch of times before, TNA anticipated a small ratings drop once the focus was shifted to the "new generation". You hope now that the audience grows because the product has changed a bit, but you'll have to deal with a step back before a step forward.
The negative: considering how much hype they're pinning on Hogan, it's certainly not paying off yet. Does that change when he actually appears on screen, or what?

They put one billboard up in Times square...ok so where is the national advertising that we were lead to believe was en-route? If nody knows what TNA even is than how in hell is giving Hogan air time and likely a few million bucks gonna help?

It'll bring SOME interest, probably, but unless they get something going to get people to give it a shot, I don't think they'll get enough to justify what costs will come with this.

It would be funny if TNA's ratings stayed under 1.5 after Hogan showed up. For like the entire time he was there. That, or all his ideas end up being bizarre ploys for attention like making Sam Puckett and Carly Shay the Knockout tag champs. Not the actresses, the characters. yay, an iCARLY reference!

The big Jan 4th show should still get them a lot of interest I think, but it certainly makes a mockery of the press statements making out 'momenum' being with TNA. To date, ratings have remained exactly where they were as if nothing was due to happen in just 13 days' time. If Hogan does have a big effect, it'll be a galvanizing one because any momentum does not seem reflected in the ratings despite the extra publicity this month.

Personally, I give TNA credit for generally avoiding 'quick fix' moves. Hogan seems to be a move they're serious about, a quick fix would have been putting Sting over AJ at BFG and reforming the original MEM as many of us feared.

That's something that a lot of us have been very happy to see, that the plan to get the focus shifted onto AJ and his peers has still gone through. That's a decent sign of them looking at the "big picture", but there's more they can do, as well.

I'd just like to point out that the Torch constantly over analyzes Impact's rating, and would give out an in-depth report as to how each segment did. Here's how they analyzed RAW's rating from this past week: www.pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_37614.shtmlHilarious. Every time RAW does a bad number or gets a lower rating than the previous week, they attribute it to something else on television. While, there's absolutely no excuse for the decline in Impact's rating.

Wow, who knew there were this many iCarly fans here.[/quote] Although I cannot speak for others, speaking from my own plate, I'm a father of two, 10 and three, so it's not as much a case of "me, the iCarly fan" as "me, the conscientious father who wants to be a part of his kids life, but to be fair, has a soft spot for family-safe comedy" Besides, I'm less of a Nick fan and more of a Disney channel fan, with "Sonny With A Chance" and old "Lizzie McGuire" reruns dominating my share of the PVR... Having said that, Sam's eternal affection for food does strike a familiar and pleasant chord
