I was listening to QCWRadio tonight and during their TNA review they were saying that there are reports of Velvet Sky not being happy about having to do that mud wrestling match.
If that's true I can't really blame her and I kind of feel bad now for getting some enjoyment from it.

It is always bad/sad when a person hates their working environment. They said on the show that Velvet Sky posted on her Myspace page about not being mud or jello wrestler and that she is a wrestler and that loves what she does. So if that's true I don't think she hates working for TNA just upset about having to participate in a mud wrestling match. Then again those reports they were talking about could all be NEWZ though.

She didn't like it because of all those stifling clothes she had to wear. I know that was my reasoning.

Now for the people who are blasting TNA for doing this and how it contradicts there belief that the knockouts division is the best womens division in the world, Hamada wrestled a guy for a male title while Tara and ODB wrestled a good street fight. That is three (four if you count the intergender tag match) matches featuring knockouts. I agree with this. I didn't even like the mud wrestling match, but by no means do I consider an eye candy match to be the norm with TNA. It's just that for whatever reason, some people like to bash TNA and will use any ammo they can. Perhaps TNA brings it upon themselves, since they have taken shots at WWE over the years. Yes when taken out of context, TNA having a mud wrestling match is the complete opposite of what the Knockouts division represents. But like you said, on that very same show Hamada was given a HUGE credibilty boost by almost beating Eric Young. Tara and ODB had a great brawl as well. Likewise this is the only mud wrestling match we've ever seen in TNA (since the start of the Knockouts division), and quite possibly the only one we will see. Again I am in no way defending the mud wrestling, and I would rather watch a "Best of Hornswoggle" DVD then see another mud wrestling match. But having said that, I do understand why it took place and I still think the Knockouts division as a whole is pretty amazing.

Thing is, having the "mud match" on the show destroyed more credibility than Hamada and the other matches helped to build. In two weeks, people will only remember the paddle pool full of crap and they are not going to care that some other matches happened to occur. It only takes one block to be removed for the tower to fall, and as soon as pointless, weak crap like this comes in and receives any praise it keep being used and soon the entire division will crumble.

Especially since we probably won't see Hamada for a month and the match will never be mentioned again. And I'm sorry, but how does a match where the goal is to get drunk bring respectability to the Knockouts?

Speaking of, is there a video of the Young/Hamada match? I'd like to see that.

No Divas here! Just Diva-lite. That commercial was last played..........when exactly? Ah yes, let's act like they still don't carry this attitude.

Wow people. You're taking this match completely out of context.. we're talking about a night that was "booked by Big Sexy". A guy that lets his passion for beautiful women doing sexy things get the better of him. He booked that match because he wanted to see it.
It was a one time thing, fit in with the Nash angle... and you know what, apparently it's quite the popular video.
This didn't hurt TNA at all. Shouldn't you be complaining that Hogan is ruining TNA already before he even has got there somewhere?

Eh. I was never a big mud guy.
And as for Beautiful People being a slam on WWE, good for them, but usually a joke is done once or twice. After that, you pretty much become as guilty as they are when you follow suit entirely.
Not saying TNA doesn't do a lot of other things with the Knockouts, they do, I just think the idea that BP is some dig at them falls flat after like year 2 or whatever we are at now.

It kind of obvious to me Russo is not taking the Knockout Division seriously anyway. Once he got ODB the belt, in which she does nothing to defend it or gets in a meaningful feud, but use it as a "prop" for her joke of it being called a "Knocked Up" belt, then feuds with her boyfriend over it, and while other, more deserving competitors are in singles fueds over nothing (Tara/Kong, Flash/Tracy), then create a worthless tag belt so you can put aside BTP and Wilde/Sarita out of the title picture, and when you ran out of heels for the face champs, turn a face into a heel crap (hint hint, Tara), so now this mud wrestling thing, to me, is inevitable. Sure, Velvet desrves a title run, but Russo would rather have a champ who hasa trailer park talk segment with the belt!
Russo treated the WCW cruiser belt with this kind of crap, as wel Las having a beauty contest on Nitro (a segment which actually beat RAW)so it seems like a pattern to him. He figured "people want to see chicks fight over nothing, why bother having a belt in the picture".

Within the context of the BP characters I'd say it works. They are supposed to be attention-grabbing bimbos.
I wouldn't want the more "serious" knockouts doing it.

I like how people are saying the match is being used out of context. It was a mud wrestling match. I don't care if it was because Kevin Nash booked it, it was still done. Like others have said people on the IWC are praising it, and with Russo in charge we will see more of these if he thinks it will work. Especially with Dixie being the complete mark that she is. She'll let Russo book all sorts of stupid crap if he brings it to her.

That's why there is an explaination. Also, this is Kevin Nash. The same man who made a challenge based on push ups, pogo sticks, and jump rope. The man who announced a PPV in a bar and had it with midgets, women, and one legged wrestlers. I don't except a ROH show when Nash is booking. I expect a cirque du freak, in a way. A spectacle. That's what we got.
