If you remember correctly, Jim Ross got into a heated argument with Gorilla Monsoon on one of the broadcasts. Ross mentioned that he never said he was bringing back Scott Hall or Kevin Nash. The storyline was breaking kayfabe for it's time. With the angle, Razor Ramon and Diesel were being presented as merely television characters and these characters were now being portrayed by different performers. The heat generator for the angle was in the fact that the WWF knew the fans would be angry because they weren't getting the original performers to reprise those roles. It is a misnomer to say Glenn Jacbos and Rick Bognar were "fakes" or "imposters." You wouldn't say Daniel Craig is the fake James Bond or Christian Bale is the fake Batman.

Since Wikipedia is correct about everything, I turned to them to settle this debate.
So I guess in referring to the gimmick proper, One could just call Glenn, "Diesel." But Wiki does acknowledge "Fake Diesel," so it's use is clearly acceptable.

The "Fake" moniker is totally unofficial and supplied by fans. They went by just Diesel and Razor Ramon and were usually referred to in mags as New Diesel and New Razor Ramon.

If anything, I was surprised the characters stuck around for as long as they did. I thought they were going to be used just to boost ratings for one episode of Raw, but they ended up becoming regulars.

Is there any video online of J.R. arguing with Monsoon? In fact are their any promos by Fake Diesel and Fake Razor anywhere?

But who thought "Fake" Diesel would become a future WWF Champion and would still be in the company to this day?

I've also seen Diesel II and Razor II used as well. Also, was there ever an official name for brian lee as undertaker? PWI had him listed in the results page as Evil Undertaker.

On TV they were called the NEW Razor Ramon and Diesel. The fans didn't accept these knockoffs and they disappeared..only for the fake Diesel to become a big red...yet..underused machine

You wouldn't say Daniel Craig is the fake James Bond or Christian Bale is the fake Batman. In my mind, Michael Keaton will always be the Godamned Batman, and Sean Connery will always be Bond.

The SummerSlam '94 thing, I called that the Underfaker. That was cool to say.
And maybe we should ask a Japanese fan about this, since Tiger Mask has been played by four people and it wasn't like they tried to tell you it was the same guy each time, since they put a Roman numeral after his name.
Why not just come out and make a meme out of it? WHAT'S DREAD PIRATE ROBERTS DOING IN THE IMPACT ZONE?

I get the feeling The Bookers argued as much as fans do about the idea.
