Over the last few years, how many have actually produced a first time world champion? 2006 - Edge, Rob Van Dam, Rey Mysterio, King Booker (his first WWE World Title anyway) 2007 - The Great Khali 2008 - CM Punk, Jeff Hardy 2009 - Sheamus All I can think of.

You could also put Bobby Lashley in 2006 and move CM Punk to 2007 if you want to consider the ECW title a "world" title (I don't personally, but still).

Under Lashley's reign the the WWE called the ECW a "World Title". But When John Morrison won, they decided to just make it the ECW title, therefore CM Punk, Morrison and the other wrestlers to have won it after Morrison are not World Champions. But back on topic, it's the obvious. Kofi, John Morrsion, or Christian.

Going back a little further than the above list:
2004: Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit (if you don't count his WCW Title win), JBL, Randy Orton 2005: John Cena, Batista.

Leaning towards there not being one, but if for some reason WWE sour on John Morrison, look for them to rub it in by giving The Miz a world title.

Kofi, and Morrison to win the MITB giving a run to him as well.
Swagger's probably another year away from being ready for a push towards the belt. They could begin putting the wheels in motion to get Kofi in serious contention right now and it would be viable. They just need to get Morrison back to the level he was when he had his series with Punk over the summer, which won't be tough once he moves on from Drew.
Maaaaaaaaybe Ted Dibiase towards the end of the year, although he's much more likely to be 2011.

Kofi, I can see him on SD being the World Heavyweight Champion.
Morrison, well he needs to gain some steam. If he's going to continue with these cookie cutter bland as apple pie promos, then make him like Chris Benoit was, an aggressive badass but this time he's a pretty boy.

Whenever someone goes to conduct an interview backstage, they should have to go to his personal locker room, with a plaque on the door that reads: "Vance Archer: Therapist." The rest writes itself.

I dont think Kofi will ever be world champion.
In 2010 I would not be shocked if we didnt see a single new first time champion. I mean I know we get one a year basically, but there doesnt seem to be anyone on the horizon. There could always be a shocker like Sheamus winning but that was pretty impossible to predict in December 2008.

Kofi won't win the world title, he'll just be the over face who never wins it. He's capable of alot but being the face of the company, is not one of them. It's harder to be a world champ as a face as the company relies on you to be the face of it. When you're a heel, the crowd really just count down the days until the face beats you. He's this generations Junkyard Dog, IMO.

For all of the people who talk about how guys like Kofi aren't ready after two years or how Morrison isn't there yet after four or five, I always wonder what sort of twisted logic there is to it.
I mean, Cena won the title within three years, and he's the biggest star in the business today. Austin won it within three years too, and he's in the Hall of Fame. Hell, Rock won it in two, Taker won it in one, Triple H did it in four...
And freakin' Hogan won it in a month.
The amount of time served with the company is by no means an indicator as to whether or not someone should have the title. If they have the talent and are over, they're ready.
