About the only thing that would get me to watch Raw over Impact would be a Maryse / Layla live sex celebration. ;D

Raw doesn't have to do anything. That fanbase is so set that they'd basically have to show a black screen with the words "Change the channel to SpikeTV now!" in order for TNA to do some damage. Not a shot against TNA's product as its is just as good as WWE's, but WWE's sect think that WWE=Wrestling and won't really acknowledge another product. Habits are hard to break - especially bad ones.

Impact won't beat Raw. However, Raw needs to keep Impact from taking viewers.
Many of the dumb skits that they have had in recent weeks, they can't take place this week. This has proven to be ratings poison, and the Raw ratings have been tumbling in recent weeks, coming back up a bit last week, as Raw didn't have the really dumb stuff it usually does.
I decided to watch Impact due to the worst Raw ever, which occured a few weeks ago with the Little People's Court, among a number of bad things. I'll watch Raw later on, downloaded, but, what turned me off for tonight has been the really bad comedy skits that would get most other tv shows canceled. So, if WWE does not have any of those, that will help in the quest to reduce the number of Raw viewers from changing to Impact.

Raw has been established for years and nationally syndicated. I doubt they will have to do much at this point in time to destroy TNA in the ratings. TNA is going to have to take babysteps much like WCW did to overtake WWE. Just having Hogan show up isnt going to do it. Its going to be a work in progress. Maybe a year from now TNA will be big time competitors. It took WCW a year or two once the War took off to compete. TNA isnt going to do it overnight.. WWE will probably destroy them by a total of 2 to 3 ratings points. And with Bret back, TNA wont stand a chance tonight. A year from now though I see TNA as big time competitors though if they continue expanding

The repeat failures of each big star they round up (even relevant ones like Angle and Booker) to drum up ratings has me convinced that TNA's problem goes much further than a lack of exposure, helped by the fact that I don't really know any wrestling fans who aren't aware of them but I know plenty who see the company as bush-league. Personally, I honestly think it'd be astounding if TNA gets a full point in the ratings. Way I wager it, with TNA usually drawing about a 1.0, if you assume 80% of their audience watches Raw and half of those who watch Raw prefer it over Impact, then TNA will be destroyed.

But WWE hasnt been on the same level since they had competition with WCW. If the continue just stagnating and rolling along being on cruise control there could be a chance that fans switch over to TNA if they continue to establish themselves and be may another wrestling war in a yer or two. WWE was at their best when they had a competitor I thought product wise. Now there is no one there to push them. They havent been on that level since 99-01 or so. Since then it seemed pretty much like cruise control for them from a creative aspect. I hope TNA does compete cause I would love to see both companies at their best and another war. They would be great for the business which I think needs a shot in the arm at this point

They have to claim Bret will make an impact, tell Sheamus he's crossed the line, and call Maryse a real knockout.
Meanwhile TNA will have blood, be the 'best there is' and call Kurt Angle the 'best in the world at what he does'.
As long as there are no commercials for Impact during Raw, WWE will win this war because it's not 1996, and Hogan's relevance pales into comparison compares to WWE's.

This is TNA's first foray into it, and probably their last. And when are people going to realize that ratings for one show have little to do with what's going on that week, but rather what happened the week before, and how well they hyped this week?
