For those asking, the office of Governor General is difficult to explain, but she's essentially our Head of State. She's like the Queen of England, a figurative head only. The Prime Minister controls real power, like England's one. 12 minutes till the torch arrives. Also like the Queen, she has her reserve powers, that I don't believe have even been used since 1925.

I had no idea Donald Sutherland was Canadian. Yeah, and his father-in-law if I remember right was the one who brought Canada its Healthcare system. Tommy Douglas, founder of the New Democratic Party, who was voted the Greatest Canadian a few years ago.

I had no idea Donald Sutherland was Canadian. I believe his father was voted by Canucks as the greatest Canadian who ever lived. He was a famous politician. As toddpolt pointed out, it was actually his father-in-law.

Is she there to prove Canada is not all white people? I'm glad you said it. I couldn't find a way to write African-Canadian and make it sound right. Or do they call the black people African-Americans up there too?

Or do they call the black people African-Americans up there too? I believe African-Canadian is the most PC term. Me, I just say black people. The few I know don't mind.
