It is Jake Roberts with Damien vs. Bad News Brown with sewer rats. Bad News Brown's gimmick was that of a Harlem street fighter. This match at SummerSlam was during the end of his WWF career. After rewatching this, it is as if his character was twiked a bit to resemble someone like Willard, who lives among rats. What did you think about this angle ? Does anybody remember what promos or vignettes they had leading up to this feud ? Did Bad News come out on TV one day and just threaten to bring sewer rats to the ring ?

There were promos. I remember an interview where he fed the"rats" a steak (I am thinking there was some kind of blade in the box that chopped it up).

It started when Mean Gene was interview Bad News Brown on an episode of Wrestling Challenge and it happened to be Bad News Birthday, Mean Gene gave him a present that he was told by someone to give him and wouldn't tell who it was, Bad News opens it and believes it's a real snake and panicks, then Mean Gene discovers it's a rubber Snake, thus the feud begins

And weren't the "Rats" actually "Opposums?" Much like Ricky Steamboat's komodo dragon was actually a "crocodile?"

I remember during this "summerslam", gene okerlund was talking up the roberts / brown match and he said that they got a "sneak peak" at the harlem sewer rats, and we were then treated to footage of a black cloak being taken off a cage and a closeup of what looked like a big rat dummy clinging for dear life onto the cage from inside.
yeah, I think it was fake. why else wouldn't bad news present them during the match? other then it probably would've been too dangerous if not handled properly. this is WWF/WWE, not "wild kingdom". (I don't care what gene okerlund and Lord alfred hayes wanted y'all to believe during an episode of SNME..)
by the way: mr. perfect vs. texas tornado and gene's interview w. sensational sherri: my favorite moments from this "summerslam".
