Is this for real? The cops let them write tickets in place of going to jail?

Is this for real? The cops let them write tickets in place of going to jail? It was one of the pre-taped skits during the hour with no wrestling and was supposed to parody some movie.

Why not collectively induct all the '99 Bossman angles as the single Gooker?
Just dub it "The Year of Cartoonish Super-Villain Bossman."

The 'big shows dad dies' was lame and tasteless. Plus, kayfabe wise, how many dads has Big Show had? First his dad was Andre, then his dad died of cancer, then it was revealed his dad was his step-dad and...WTF man? I HATE continuity errors that f'n blatant.

when did the hour of Nitro with no wrestling happened ? The hour of Nitro with no wrestling happened during the first hour of the 3/8/1999 show. Not only was there no wrestling the only things that were live during that hour was the Nitro Party. Here is a recap I wrote last year on that part of that particular episode. But it gets even worse after the hour ended the very first thing that was live at the arena was an in-ring promo. The first match was 72 minutes into the show and lasted four minutes before ending in a no contest. Also all the stuff that happened during that first hour was never mentioned throughout the rest of the show or ever again actually. I remember this. I thought I read somewhere that during this time, the live audience was treated to four matches during this time span. Can someone confirm?

lol I just looked at the poll again 'Bossman is hung' Now THAT's a story we missed out on. 'The Bossman's beating Austin with his nightstick' 'That's not his nightstick!' "Bossman, they said you was hung." "And they was right!"

Please. So many people saying "Fingerpoke of Doom killed WCW. Ratings tanked after that." Ratings 'tanked'? So the next Nitro, WCW was dead was it? That's been repeated so many times, people actually believe it. Even though RD gives it wayyyy too much credit for doing harm t WCW in his book, even he admits it wasn't really the FOD that killed WCW. Not to go on a rant here, but it's been stated that the FOD could have been ok......(note I say ok) IF certain things had happened after it. I myself enjoyed seeing the NWO reformed and seeing Goldberg get beat down in the ring. It was what they did AFTER the FOD that annoyed me. They did NOTHING.
Anyway, without a doubt, the ultimate Gooker of 1999 like someone else said has to be Vince being the higher power. I'm sorry. ANYONE else could have made more sense. ANYONE! You had your daughter kidnapped, ready to be strapped to the SYMBOL (although it looks awfully familiar to me) and effectively sold her off to the UNDERTAKER, after terrorising her and burning more symbols outside the house......all to stop Austin being WWF champion? I also didn't like the way it made the Vince/Shane standoff before seem worthless. I mean, at least Vince could have sold out or something.
And......WHY OH WHY 'reveal' yourself then to be the higher power with as little as a aweeks buildup? Why not have a match with UT stip being if Austin wins, he get's a match with the ~Higher Power perhaps?, And at the end, or even the next night on Raw, Austin (or Mankind, if u wanted to hold off on Austin being MD) could have revealed Vince?
I'm surprised they didn't have the higher power showing up for months before he was revealed. No matter what anyone says, WWF botched the higher power angle. Sure Austin being MD saved it at the end, but still.

Fingerpoke/Foley
The title match should always be a big deal. To me, to win the championship should be about sacrifice, hard work and perfecting a moveset in order to face the elite.
They cemented the fact that the belt was about the writing and not about the sport. True, wrestling was always booked, but there are limits to be respected. I don't want to be reminded of the backstage bookers as I'm watching the show.
As someone said, when you are more interested in the backstage stories of any sport, that means your team has problems.

If we are voting on this now, probably Fingerpoke of Doom. If we had voted on this at the end of 1999, Big Show's Dad Dies may have won for a few reasons:
1. It was in very poor taste, even at the time 2. More people watched WWF, and thus were more familiar with the Big Show angle 3. WCW was still in business at the time, so we weren't completely aware of the ramifications of 'Fingerpoke' just yet 4. 'Fingerpoke' occurred at the beginning of 1999, while the Big Show angle happened near the end of 1999. There has been a trend of Gooker Award winners usually being angles that happened in the latter half of their respective years, giving the nudge to Big Show in this situation

Based on the significance, fingerpoke. But based on sheer crap, I'm inclined to pick anything Ric Flair was involved with that year. "First blood" cage match, being sent to the nuthouse, the whole deal with Piper/Robinson that I still don't remember was about (Presidency of WCW?). I hated all that when I was 8, I hate it even more now. I believe the Powers That Be occurred in 1999 also. That's a strong pick also

The damage that it did was devaluing the WCW Championship in some throw away match that had Hogan ONCE AGAIN as WCW Champion and the nWo starting all over again which a lot of the fans were sick and tired of seeing. It didn't kill WCW...it just burned the fans. Hogan winning the belt in some farce match was nothing more than a great big f*** You to the fans of WCW. It showed at the end of the day, Hogan always gets what he wants.

For everyone keeping score, the Heroes of Wrestling pay-per-view also was in 1999. However, to everyone keeping score, RD doesn't usually induct indy stuff (although he did induct that PPV) and while it was craptastic, it certainly would not have won Gooker of the Year. For me, has to be Big Show's dad dies. Keep in mind it also involved the WWF CHAMPIONSHIP! Or just induct Bossman in 1999 like WC almost did with Kane in 2006.

What I mean is..this was the last chance for Nitro to kick Raw's ass in the ratings. Raw was promising an epic title match between The Rock and Mankind while WCW at first promised Goldberg v.s Nash but then Hogan v.s Nash where the rival factions would fight, proving there'd only be room for one nWo in WCW. The ratings shot up like the price of gas once WCW spoiled the ending for Raw, while WCW's title match tanked with Nash going down by the power of Hogan's finger, handing him the belt on a silver platter. WCW never recovered ratings wise or credibility wise after that.

It should be noted that Raw ended a few minutes early that night, so ratings shot up for the last 5 minutes of Nitro (Which would've made Nitro the winner of the night, had Raw not been spoiled)

How about Vince as the Higher Power? After the buildup, that was a massive wrestlecrap moment, especially when you started asking any kind of questions about it. I agree, I voted Other to signify this angle.
