from the south park website...a message from matt and trey "In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it." Ladies and gentlemen, It Hits the Fan.

So, either next week it's a new episode about something random, or it's going to be a 22 minute rip on Comedy Central.

i see them doing the big middle finger to comedy central and having the entire show just one long bleep....whenever anybody talks its just a bleep sound that comes out..and everytime it happens a big comedy central logo appears on screen.

Comedy Central NEEDS South Park, They should know better than to piss them off Seriously. I mean it IS the show keeping them afloat right now. Yeah Daily Show and Colbert Report get plenty of viewers, but South Park brings in the viewers.

Yeah Daily Show and Colbert Report get plenty of viewers, but South Park brings in the viewers. That or they're ok with losing South Park because some critics and reviewers are saying "Ugly Americans is the most original, wild and f***ed up animated show since South Park", so they think UA could take over. I like UA, but come on. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Oh well...free speech takes a beating, Comedy Central pays the price (I'm sure at this point Matt and Trey would be willing to flip off CC and walk over this), and Terrorism works its magic once again.
(If that was too politic-y then I apologize. It's just hilarious that they have Muhammad censored and pretty much in the same scene CC is OK with Buddha snorting coke, or having Jesus crapping on an American flag. I'm fairly certain that for a channel with COMEDY in the title, CC simply doesn't get the joke.)

*sigh* I can't believe how incredibly, utterly spineless Comedy Central is.

Don't understand the big deal here or the hate for CC CC went through the episode and bleeped any and all mentions of the word Muhammed just cause Matt and Trey got "warned"(a thinly veiled threat, really) by a Muslim "extremist" website. In other words, CC decided to give the freedom of speech a middle finger and cave into an empty threat.

Ontop of the fact that they had no problem showing Buddha snorting coke infront of the children. They basically bitched out for no reason, and made themselves look like a bunch of spineless cowards in the process.

Don't understand the big deal here or the hate for CC Me either, except there's a kind of hypocrisy going on, I guess. If a group of people made threats over the depiction of one of the other religious figures, I doubt Comedy Central would have censored that figure from the broadcast. As it's been said before, they showed the image of Mohammed in the "Super Best Friends" episode and nothing happened. It just seems as though Comedy Central is being politically correct so as not to catch flack from protest groups and...well, radical factions. Which I guess makes sense. It just sort of comes at the cost of free speech. And if the speeches at the end of the episode really didn't contain anything more than what Matt and Trey said they did, then I don't see why Comedy Central bleeped them out. But whatever, I try to stay away from censorship discussions, because even I'm not sure where the line is.

Don't understand the big deal here or the hate for CC To put it simply without breaking forum rules. Its either OK to make fun of everything or you can't make fun of anything. The fact that CC is giving into threats of violence shows them for the spineless cowards they are. There is no reason why a station like CC should allow a bunch of radical nut jobs to bully them into censorship. If they had any balls CC would put the prophet in question into their water mark until they stop receiving these ridiculous threats.

There might be with the FCC or with things that get broadcast on TV networks, but unless you are making direct threats to harm someone there is no line on free speech in America. Everything and everyone is up for ridicule, and thats the way it should be.

Not anymore. Comedy Central found out a few episodes after the Mohammed ban started.

South Park has had Kyle kill Jesus, Randy get blood sprayed on him by the statue of the Virgin Mary, has ripped on Catholicism and the Catholic league (to the point of calling them pedophiles), made countless Jewish jokes, And ripped hard on the Mormon faith, and Comedy Central has no problem. yet when they get a thinly veiled threat from the Muslims, or Scientology, they suddenly hit the panic button. Also, while I did mention several religions, I'm not trying to turn this into a rule breaking conversation. I'm just pointing out Comedy Central's bull crap.

Matt and Trey overcame the Tom Cruise/Scientology controversy, and even with the "we're threatening you but at the same time we're not" deal, I think they could overcome this one too. Although that might be a little difficult what with Comedy Central waving the white flag like a bunch of cowards. "We'll show Buddha snorting coke and we'll show Muhammad just standing there, we don't care what others think, we have balls!" "We're gonna kill you! But remember, this isn't a threat!""Oh no! Showing Muhammad is wrong! Censor him!" "What about Buddha?" "Are we receiving threats from Buddhists?" "No." "Then we keep Buddha in, coke and all!" "Hooray!"
