Oh, whiny Dallas accents......they have a tendency to make the hair on my nipples curl......... The broader Irish Midland accents.........the Americans here'll recognize it as the stereotypical one........it's charming to some levels but on the wrong person it sounds awfully pikeyish... Nu-Cockney/"I work in Canary Wharf therefore here's a list of my possessions and their prices at a tone that makes it seem as though I'm attacking you"......a bit terrifying when you get locked into an unsolicited conversation on the tube or the street or whatever...... Oh honorable and somewhat esoteric mention to the D4(Dublin 4) accent.........it's an upper class borough in the south east end of Dublin......it scares me too as you're eternally waiting for the inevitable Sex in the City-esque girlie group scream.

I don't know, people in the US seem to think every state sounds different, but I don't know. Everywhere I've been people pretty much sound the same. Though I will admit New Englanders have a distinct accent. Believe me, people have wide dialect and accent variances from one place to another. I can tell you what part of New Orleans someone is from just by how they pronounce the word "baby". Granted, I've got a more trained ear than most (both my degrees are in linguistics), but there are tons of subtle and major differences in the way people in the U.S. talk. Very true. Heck in Illinois, Northern, Central, and the Southern part of the state all sound different. In NYC, different blocks in the same neighborhood can sound different.

Not an accent or a language but I found it hilarious when a guy was talking to my brother and he said "Sorry, I don't speak dick"

No accent on this planet bothers me. Just because people sound a little different when they speak the same words isn't enough to bother me in the least.

The accent in District 9 annoyed the daylights out of me What, the "Seth Efricen" accent doesn't do it for you? You'd hate the New Zealanders then. They have really weird pronounciation and are silly. That said Cal Wilson's accent is hella sexy but that might just be Cal Wilson herself. Apparently my accent must suck. I'm from South East Victoria and I've been asked if I was English.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that southern English is the best accent (though it's not really an accent, just english as it was meant to be spoken).

I don't mind Southern accents as long as they aren't a huge drawl. There's like a distinguished sounding southern, and redneck southern. It's the latter I can't stand.
I also don't like that Midwestern/Alaskan(?) accent (whatever you'd call Sarah Palin's or the Mom's from Bobby's World accent).
South African accents also sound kind of silly.

I had a Professor in college that was born and lived 30 years in Calgary.... then he lived 15 years in Atlanta, GA. One of the most f'ed up accents I've ever heard. Although it was also fascinating in a way. That reminds me of this show that use to air on BET called Desmond's. African accents and Jamaican accents mixed with British accents. I can't believe understood the actors enough to get into the show. Lucas Black's accent is so thick, it sounds fake.
