I don't like the ring change, but the addition of an elevated ramp makes up for it big time. I LOVED that about late 80s/early 90s WCW. It was a staple of my childhood.

Bah, the ring looks small and the guard rails are still too close to the ring.
Also I love the Ramp into the ring.
That however leaves little room for planchas on all 4 sides. Somebody is going through the ramp. I'm thinking Abyss.

It's like if Nitro was filmed in the studio where they taped the WCW World Wide studio

IWC (overall) opinion is a crazy thing. I swear, every time the 6 sided ring idea came up pre-Hogan, it was "the ring is stupid, people move awkwardly, they should change back." Then when they do change back, it's "great, they're throwing away their own identity. STUPID STUPID... STUPID!"
For the record, I like the return of the 4-sided ring. I always liked the 6 sides, but reverting to a traditional ring might add more of an air of credibility to the show, especially to the casuals which is really the market they have to hit hardest right now.

I'm glad to see they finally changed it. The 6-sided ring was the biggest thing that has kept me from warming up to TNA.

I like 6 better. It looked cool, the action seemed to move faster. Blah.

I doubt the elevated walkway will last. I remember Bischoff/Russo brought it back during their 2000 WCW run and the wrestlers griped about it enough for it to vanish a few weeks later.

Hurricane Dixie wasn't around back then. It's her way or no way. If she wants the Bisch to have his way, he has his way.

Even though I miss the 6 sided ring, I do like the new entranceway where there's just the one entrance tunnel. For some reason that I can't quite put my finger on, I never liked the concept of having good guys come from one tunnel and bad guys from another.

Yeah, I don't like it unless you have an nWo/WCW, RAW/Smackdown or WWF/WCW level feud/match going on. Did anyone else think that ring looked freaking huge?

I think the idea is, that if someone is tuning into TNA for the first time, or catches them channel surfing and sees wrestling, having 6 sides makes them look like they aren't a competitor to the WWE. Yeah, it gives them an identity, but it's not an identity that they want. It's different for the sake of different, and because of that it makes them look like they aren't at the level they want to be.

I loved this. I got a text message from one of my friends that I was going to watch to the show with letting me know about the change, because I'd been pretty clear with my feelings on the matter.
"Different" does not always equal "better." Yes, the 6 sides gave TNA something different from WWE. But, as some have mentioned, a lot of casual fans (and old school fans who have become disenchanted with the current product, like myself) will take one look at that ring and say, "What the hell is that thing?" I have managed to watch some TNA and enjoy it despite the ring, but I've never gotten used to it, and definitely haven't liked it.
In the words of the Ramones, "Glad to see you go, go, go, go, goodbye!"

About freakin' time. Leave the 6 sides to lucha libre, TNA was a lot better in their four sided (i.e. Asylum) days.

Watched part of Genesis and the traditional "squared circle" is so refreshing to have back. The six-sided ring always annoyed the piss out of me.
Now they just need to get out of the iMPACT! zone or start trucking in great wrestling fans from around the state to fill the place up and/or start piping in crowd noise like WWE has done in the past. The deafening silence from the crowd combined with the chanting during the most inappropriate times really kills off a lot of the momentum.

Did it seem to effect any of the matches on the ppv? Well, Val Venis was clearly not used to the four sided ring's turnbuckles...
