As noted earlier, Shawn Daivari (a.k.a. Sheik Abdul Bashir) lost the "Feast or Fired Match" at Final Resolution because he was legitimately leaving TNA. Original plans called for Daivari and Cody Deaner to simultaneously grab the briefcase containing the pink slip with Daivari beating Deaner in a "Loser Leaves TNA Match" on an upcoming episode of iMPACT!. However, booking plans changed because Daivari had asked for his release.
Reportedly, he was upset because TNA's Director of Talent Relations, Terry Taylor, told him that creative didn't have any significant plans for him. He was subsequently asked to take a significant cut in pay from the rumored six-figure per year contract he inked over the summer. The ten-year veteran was offended by the request and opted to ask for his release rather than take the pay cut. The former "Red Rooster" obliged his request and the booking plan was changed as a result.
As far as Deaner is concerned, his future with the organization appears to be in doubt considering TNA originally planned on having him lose the match. Sources have indicated that Hulk Hogan feels Deaner's gimmick makes the company look "low budget."

How many wrestling rednecks has Vince McMahon used over the years? I mean, this is wrestling. You always need a few hicks around.

For the most part, Deaner's been pretty harmless, in my book...in fact, he's been a pretty good comedy character, outside of them taking it a step too far with the stupid "King of the Knockouts" angle (even if they did slightly make up for it by having almost the entire division kick the crap out of him for insulting them).
Sucks about Daivari, though. Dude's talented as hell, but just like Lethal Consequences, he's been a victim of the "our roster is too damn big for less than two hours of programming a week" curse.

My sources are telling me Hogan is also looking at firing Jay Lethal because of Lethal's less than flattering rap song written about Hogan's 'lack of manhood'.

We should start a "dead pool" post on which ten wrestlers will leave TNA in 2010, including ones Hogan and Bischoff will cut because they need to make room and budget for Zodiac and the Nastys!

So instead of saying "no I won't take a paycut" he said "ok, don't pay me anything"? Brilliant.

So instead of saying "no I won't take a paycut" he said "ok, don't pay me anything"? Brilliant. I think the idea was he either figures he can make more money elsewhere, or that he viewed it as a matter of principle.

It's supposed to be low-budget. If Deaner had money, he wouldn't be a redneck!

Let me tell ya somethin Brother Deaners gimmick sucks brother as say me and all my little hulkamaniacs. There is no way Deaner would be able to slam 10 Ton Andre Brother. What we need is the Disiciple Brother now thats a gimmick thats gonna give us numbers brother.

Kayfabewise, Hogan brought him in after he saved him from a beatdown...or if you believe Hogan taught Vince everything he knows, he might have done so for real, lol. Besides, it's a matter of time before Beefcake, The Nasty Boys and Rodman show up and they're as low budget as you can get...

So instead of saying "no I won't take a paycut" he said "ok, don't pay me anything"? Brilliant. He'd probably be out of there either way. Refuse to take a pay cut and he's probably fired. This way, he left more or less on his own terms.

Sucks about Daivari, though. Dude's talented as hell, but just like Lethal Consequences, he's been a victim of the "our roster is too damn big for less than two hours of programming a week" curse. Too true. I wanted Daivari to be the leader of world elite and I think he would have done an even better job than EY (no disrespect to Eric). I also wanted Daivari to get world elite to ambush Joe one day and hang joe from a rope while Daivari whacks him like a pinata with a cane screaming "I HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN JOE!" Couldn't find anything for the guy? Is this a curse for former X-Division champions that aren't primarily tag-team guys? I still haven't gotten over Petey leaving. Couldn't they at least have had Bashir and Kiyoshi do something except be the job squad for W/E. Red isn't doing anything. Couldn't they at least do an angle with Bashir and Red? But instead TNA acts like total jackasses and screws him on his pay. I'd quit too. It's getting harder and harder for me to defend TNA these days. If the weren't the only company close to competing with the E...I'd probably give up on them. Hopefully ROH gets their act together and starts making a better produced show on a more accessible network. Of course when that happens, they won't have anything for Daivari and cut his salary too...
