One thing that always seems to be raised when Russo is mentioned in topics is that he's a Writer, not a Booker and I can't quite work out what the difference is. They both decide who faces who and their reasons for it and outline promos, only obvious difference to me is that most bookers have at one point seem to have been an active competitor or on air talent beforehand, while Russo and most of the current WWE staff haven't, so what's the difference between them? Is it the degree to which they script things or what?

From what I understand that is pretty much it. A booker makes the matches and plots the way things go, letting the talent create on the mic and in the ring while a writer creates and directs everything.

Also bookers are mostly former wrestlers;writers dont even need to know anything about wrestling.

I have no idea but maybe the booker decides who they want facing each other, and the writer comes up with a storyline for them and scripts some dialogue for their promos?
