and the f bomb was just dropped during that song. It's after our watershed or safe harbor. It's perfectly fine to say those.

What the hell is the watershed time? I think it's the allotted time to take someone out behind the watershed and...well...you know......

Betty White was just awesome. 88.5 years old, folks. I'm nearly a third her age (32), and you couldn't pay me any amount of money to do a live network television show. And, much to my surprise, she was all over the show and not just relegated to a few key sketches. That's pretty impressive stamina for a near-nonagenarian.
On the other hand, the actual material was pretty...blah. It's like the writers got together at the beginning of the week and said "let's see how many times we can get Betty White to say something DIRTY!" like a bunch of third-graders. "Wizard of ASS!" was funny, but 90 minutes of that kind of humor is exactly why I stopped watching regularly in the mid 90s.
But yeah, Betty White rules.

What the hell is the watershed time? FCC regulations actually state that, between 10pm-6am, networks can air whatever they want, with no censorship restrictions. The only reason they don't is because, permission or no, they still have advertisers to answer to, and companies don't want to be seen as endorsing "offensive material". I have to say that Scared Straight is my favorite SNL segment. Thompson is brilliant in it. Last night was the best episode of SNL in a long time.

After last night I'll say what I've said since this season started. Sudeikis and Kenan are the two best members of this cast. Use them more SNL!!!

I don't honestly get it either. Yes I know she has been in some movie recently working blue, but Betty White has been around for years. She was hilarious both on Mary Tyler More Show as the horney housekeeping segment host and as dim but sweet Rose on Golden Girls. It's cool she getting this love from a new generation but still what the heel really happened? somebody started a facebook group called "Betty White for SNL Host" It got enough attention that Lourne Michaels heard about it and made her Host. That's kinda cool But this whole "Betty White working blue" thing is a little strange considering Rose Niland is the only character she played that wasn't blue. Watch her on any show or any game show she she made an appearance on before Golden Girls. She's a dirty lady. In fact the only other sickly sweet role I can think of her in is Mrs Wilson in Dennis The Menace. when Golden girls ended it was funny to see her work blue because she was Rose for so long. But pretty much every movie or show she's been in since has seemed to have the same idea. It's not funny anymore. It's just who she is.

I think the whole cast is pretty good right now, but for some reason the writing still sucks (for the most part). Although I will say that seeing some of the old female cast members last night made me think they would strongly benefit from finding some new ladies for the show. Kristen Wiig can't do it alone.

At least they're ending on a high note after some of the screwups this season.
Like . . .
1. January Jones 2. Bringing in Ryan Reynolds and giving him almost NOTHING to do. 3. Apparantly trying to get Blake Lively to break her ankle by putting her in ten inch heels in every sketch. 4. Allowing Justin Bieber to appear on the show, which will surely go down as the darkest day in the show's history.

Loved this week's episode. Am looking even more forward to the season finale, as I'm a giant Tom Petty mark.

Best episode in three years for sure. I thought it was absolutely marvelous. Crowd was terrific too!
I marked as much for the best female cast SNL has ever had making a comeback. (Bold statement, I know, but after a few years of having it sink in, and in retrospect, it's true.) And Mya Rudolph is still the funniest female performer on the planet, I think. And it's a fact I'll fight to the death that Tina Fey is the funniest in terms of writing on the entire planet.

OK, I have a question. When the did this Betty White meme start? How did it get started? Why were people petitioning to get her to host SNL? What could she really have to offer SNL at this point and at her age? I think this article sums up the surrealism of this pretty thing/meme pretty well. I think the writer makes some serious and valid arguments.
