Certainly; he was a very successful babyface before becoming the Model.

Here is something I liked about Martel as a babyface. I thought he did it very well, and when they did his "comeback" in 1989, I really wanted to see them forget about Tito at that point and just give the guy some kind of babyface run.
I felt the same way about Terry Taylor, in reverse. Let him be a heel on his own accord, and work matches. Only guy that didn't need Bobby Heenan, and they did it to turn him into a joke of a babyface. Maybe deep down they thought it would get over with the kids (or something), but it was crap.
Now, The Model was a good gimmick - but really I think WCW proved in 1997-98 in their midcard that Rick Martel as the no-nonsense babyface wrestler would have worked. And Martel had the skills on the mic to just be a "enforcer" type of worker. Maybe I was expecting something that would have worked in 1985 NWA/WCW to work in 1989 WWF.

Big Bossman/Guardian Angel/Big Bubba Rogers
I will also go with Dustin Rhodes to Goldust.
Unlike alot of son's of wrestlers, Dustin could really get it done when he was younger and was a great worker and in the early 90's in WCW he was pretty successful I would think and he won every WCW belt accept the World Title. And then there's Goldust.

Adrian Adonis, brawler/homo Rick Martel maybe Sheik Adnon el Kaissey was also Col. Mustafa Umaga/3 minute warning Jamal Adnan was General Adnan. You mean that Iron Shiek was Col. Mustafa (also, he was not successful by any stretch of the imagination.)

The transformation from Bob Backlund, clean-cut former NCAA and WWF Champion to Mr Bob Backlund, complete psychopath is one of the all-time greats.

Rikishi went from being Fatu a wild Samoan headshrinker, to making a difference, to the Sultan, and then became a break-dancing sumo wrestler.
Charles Wright went from being Papa Shango (a voodoo priest) to Kama a black militant, to being a pimp as Godfather.

Seems to me that Brian Adams is one of the guys who has gone through the most character revamps and managed to successfully stay over...
Demolition Crush "Kona" Crush "Evil" Crush Nation member Crush DOA member Crush nWo member Brian Adams Kronik member Brian Adams
The only thing the guy did that would have been utter crap was the KISS Demon, and luckily for him, he was able to get out of that gimmick after one appearance.
