I had no idea what this whole MacGruber thing was about, so I checked wiki and I think they actually thought this is out, it's not just a case of them getting whoever.
MacGruber is always trying to defuse bombs but never beats the countdown. And Extreme Rules main event is about Batista and Cena having to beat the count.

Because WWE has become synonymous with horribly unfunny comedy, so why not bring in two of the people from a horribly unfunny sketch?

I have no idea if the movie is any good, but it seems to go well beyond the one-note SNL skits.
It's basically an Austin Powers-esque spoof on '80s action movies.

And MacGruber was fresh about 2 years ago..I mean it's funny but I think it might be about to get stale. Gotta be honest, I saw the trailer and I think it has potential, even though I like MacGruber as it is. It's a bright spot for SNL. But in fairness, I love SNL, and it's gold compared to the crappy comedy we churn out in the UK. |
