So I just finished The Prowler on Blu-ray. Blue Underground have done it again, as the 1080p transfer looked incredible on my 50 inch plasma. Don't get me wrong, The Prowler isn't high definition eye candy and probably not the first disc you'll pull out to show off your shiny new HDTV. On the other hand, the nearly 30 year old slasher film benefits greatly from the upgrade, with the increased resolution offering a more natural, film-like experience. The blood is redder than ever and Tom Savini's makeup effects hold up surprisingly well. All in all, I recommend this disc not only to people who don't already own the film (and if you're a horror fan, it should be required viewing), but to people who own the previous DVD edition as well. Trust me, it's well worth the upgrade.

Well, I can take a small level of comfort knowing that the original director, Ruggero Deodato, is attached to the CH remake. On a somewhat related note, I was wearing my Chris Hero "Bloody Superman Logo" shirt the other day, and when asked by a Target cashier what my shirt meant, I said "Cannibal Holocaust. It's a great movie, you should watch it. You'll thank me later." So, you know, doing my part to spread the word. And Chris Hero is denied a new fan yet again. ;D Off-topic, but I own a Chris Hero shirt, and anytime someone asks me what it means, I tell them the legit answer. Strange looks are all I get in response.

It's an awful movie that I won't be buying; but again; f*** WB for putting more and exclusive bonus material on the Blu-Ray that isn't on the standard DVD release. I hate when they do that.

It's a shame, because it looks like more and more studios will do that. They'll be happy to keep DVD's around just to soak more people who double dip, I'm guessing.

It's bad and I agree with you, but my biggest grip with Blu-Ray releases? Including a dvd copy of the movie. I just think it's to bilk people out of more money. I mean when did they ever include a vhs copy of a dvd movie? Anywho, I'll rent NoES remake on my x-box first.

Why do you torture us with news that we could care less about hearing, Andrew? Either way...you know my thoughts, but my brother liked it he said, so I wouldn't be shocked if he bought this. Oh well. I'm guessing that "Manaical Movie Mode" is the Maximum Movie Mode that WB does, with Watchmen and other titles. Those are always at least decent.
