When I listen to myself in recordings, I usually turn it off quickly. My voice is so deep and monotone, it sounds like I have no emotion. Also when I listen to myself, I feel like I'm hearing a mentally challenged person when I'm not. Does anyone else hate how they sound when listening to themselves.

On the other hand I'm sure there are people who love the sound of their own voice

I used to. Then I got to used to it and actually kind of like it. As a commentator/editor, I would listen to my voice a lot so I had to get used to it.

I think recordings make everybody sound different.

lmao; my voice seems a little high when I hear myself in a recording or video or whatever but if you talked to me face to face; my voice is deep.
So yes, I hate to hear myself haha

Absolutely, especially from recordings. When I'm listening to myself just from my own perspective, I think I sound pretty good. But when I listen to my voice from an audio recording or a video, I think it's atrocious. My inflection sounds weird, I feel like I have a Triple H-like end-ah to each-ah of the words-ah that come out of my mouth-ah, and I feel like I have a dull monotone. It makes me really self-conscious, and feel like I never learned how to speak properly (which I already worry about enough).

Kinda, But at the same time. My deep voice allowed me never to get I.D'd while buying booze, smokes and porn at the age of 14. The big thing I didn't like about it was friends were always asking me to make phone calls to school pretending to be their dad. I didn't feel right about doing that.

I think my speaking voice sounds OK, but for some reason my phone voice sounds like a woman. It's gotten to the point that I am not even offended anymore when people think I'm female on the phone, I'm just like I know, I know lets move on.

It's okay to buy beer, cigarettes, porn and other harmful substances but god forbid you impersonate their fathers. My voice sounds different sometimes, depending if I'm talking louder, quieter or my mood is different. Sometimes I don't mind. Other times I find myself annoying. I don't sing but at a Halloween party I sang some songs for Guitar Hero and like a couple people thought I was good.

Yes, I do. Two months ago I hosted a show on Sirius XM's E Street Radio. The company sent me a CD recording and I still haven't listened to it. My family and friends have and said I did a great job, but of course they'll say that.

Alot of the time I don't like it, cause I sound monotone. But I've noticed that if I'm talking to someone for a longer period of time, and I'm actually enjoying the conversation, my voice sounds pretty cool and no longer monotone. But I can't force it like that...

I absolutely hate it. Last year I did the voice of a character in an audio version of I-don't-remember-which-tale. It was for a friend's project in college. To this day, I'm unable to give the final product a listen because I can't stand the way I sound.

My natural speaking voice is a kind of baritone, so of course I enjoy it. I especially love the bass range.

For a few months in 1997, I literally had no voice, due to a massive Diabetic Coma and whatnot, so, once I regained the ability to talk, I really liked it.
After the realization that no ammount of Speech Therapy could ever fix up the fact that I sounded more like a stoned Mongoloid than my old self though, the effects wore off. (I can speak much more articulately now though, so that's something)

I'm just starting to be OK with the sound of my voice,,,, this after putting out over 5 original music CD recordings of it! I actually sank major money into this too! Travelled thousands of miles to promote the damn things!
Half my songs resemble GG Allin in their meanness and f***ed-upness that I'm beginning to feel that I do the singing to relieve myself from saying it in public to people on the streets/at home and in the sub-conscious thinking that my life would go by with much less drama if I just did them from the stage or into a studio microphone. A release for the better.

My voice is something of a soft tenor with slight midwestern inflections. But when recorded, I start to sound like my uncle- stiff and a little dorky.

And this is why I don't like to listen to myself in recordings, because I come off kind of dorky.
