Can't wait for the new book, RD. I remember a special issue of The Wrestler that had a whole slew of lists. WWF Magazine also featured lists for a while. I've saved those issues, so here are some examples. Enjoy!
May 2000:
"Top Five Alternative Methods of Payment Accepted by the Acolytes Protection Agency (APA)"
1. Open bar at The Friendly Tap.
2. Tour of alcohol brewery.
3. A copy of the movie Roadhouse.
4. Custom-made Hoyle Poker set.
5. Three minutes in the ring with the TV "Whassup" guys because"time should be spent drinkin', not greetin' "
December 2000:
"Top 5 Places Chris Benoit Could Have Left His Tooth"
1. Embedded in Stephanie's forehead.
2. In Rikishi's crack.
3. In The Rock's fist.
4. Under his pillow.
5. In Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
February 2001:
"Top 5 Places Steven Richards Would Take a Date"
1. To a book burning.
2. Picketing outside of Hooters.
3. To the PTC website.
4. To the mall to buy his date more suitable clothing.
5. On a double date with Val Venis to a quilting bee.
September 2001:
"Top 5 WWF Products That Didn't Quite Make the Grade"
1. "Tea Time With William Regal" Tea Cup and Saucer Playset.
2. Undertaker's "Do-It-Yourself Tattooing Kit"
3. Raven's Shopping Cart of Fun: Including a variety of weapons and a Frankenstein doll.

This must be slightly easier for RD to write than the last two, as he doesn't have to worry about paragraphs for the most part.

Did you check out Ego Trip's Big Book of Rap Lists? It's a bible among hiphoppers and in my opinion the best stab at listing a subculture.

I can't friggin wait until this book is released. I absolutely love random lists (except for Rolling Stone magazine: Jack White and Kurt Cobain were once named better guitarists than Slash and Angus Young...WTF?) and I absolutely love Wrestlecrap...So it can only be described as win freakin' win!

If yo think that list is supsect, what abou the AFI's "Top100 Comedies of All Time"? SOMETHING ABOUT MARY beat SPINAL TAP, ANIMAN HOUSE, and CADDY SHACK! I laughed more during that one scene of ANIMAL HOUSE when Bluto is walking through the cafeteria line then I did during all of MARY |

I want the book, I'll probably buy the book, but I'm putting a sticker or something over Vince's butt. His crack invades my TV every now and again but I'll be gosh darned if it gets it's funk all over my book shelf!

It's lists are accurate enough to be tight and then at times wrong enough to make you argue for hours. The first thing I said when I saw the new book was 'Damn! A cross between wrestlecrap and the ego trip book! I need this!' But i still think RD should pull a russo swerve and have the book turn out to be nothing but blank pages or a 300 page account of flower arranging. Sure, it'd suck and we'd feel cheated but at least we didn't expect it, right? |
