Roderik Strong has never really stood out to me. Good wrestler, but rather bland and WWE crowds wouldn't even give a crap. yeah, I could see Roderick getting stuck with the Lance Storm "boring" gimmick I could see him with a Messiah of the Backbreaker gimmick

CM Punk = King of the indies and only the indies. There are so many who are better and more appealing then Punk (Roderick Strong, KENTA, and many others) Roderik Strong has never really stood out to me. Good wrestler, but rather bland and WWE crowds wouldn't even give a crap. To quote a one B. Thompson Stroud: "Roderick Strong is a Wrestling P3N1S" and I agree. EDIT: stupid filter made me have to l33t-ify it.

By all the saints in heaven do you people just watch the show and look for the smallest thing to jump on, as if its Punk's fault on how the crowd sounds or reacts. Hell in Hammerstein he got one helluva reaction. He is a great wrestler, that suicide dive, the drop kick tonight along with his other aerial moves, mat wrestling and Japanese like kicks and strikes make him great in my book. I mean do you people go over and watch TNA and find crap to load on Samoa Joe like you do Punk? I am too f***ing lazy to go and look. Personally I think with the release of Angle they will need someone new to elevate to the main event, I hope its Punk as he brings a ton of tools to the ring. Dare I got out on a limb and say I for one hope Angle comes back and we get to see a Punk/Angle match. But getting back to my original point move him to Main Event where he feuds with RVD imagine the matches they would have, probably be on par, if not outshine, Rob's matches with Jerry Lynn. Then you got Sabu, I am smiling just thinking of the brawls those two could put on. I never got to see what Punk did with Raven but I understand it to have torn up the Indy scene a few years ago. So we know he can brawl. In closing lets look over Punk resume, he can mat wrestle, kick ass with awesome aerial moves, and f***ing brawl. Who else can do that well lets see, Benoit (god) RVD (great wrestler when booked right) Angle to an extent (nuf said). So I guess with Punk you get the total package but without the drugs and too tight t-shirts. I am not going to get into his promo abilities because he go there as well but is held back by the dumb ass writers. But hey this is just my opinion I should probably stop reading when I see the poster bitching about Punk as it ruins him for me and I for one am trying to keep an open mind when it comes to new talent that don't do punch, big boot, pump handle slam. Oh crap I probably just pissed off some Test fans. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

yeah, it wasn't an anti-Punk diss. If anything, it was more mocking the Smackdown crowd

Well, I was thinking of seeing who felt that Punk should take Angle's place and went that one wondering what the post was all about and saw what I took as some anit-Punk posts and went off. Then decided not to post a whole topic on Punk replacing Angle and put the idea in the post. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

I'm just going to skip reading this mostly, but I skimmed.. The crowd was just as dead as during most of Smackdowns slow, hold based wrestling matches. At least the Smackdown matches usually have solid midcard talent and a good 20 minutes to work with, however. Punk himself is relatively unknown, and Richards isn't all that over either. Putting two guys like that together and then doing a slow match like that with no time to build up or develop anything... yeah, not going to work well.
People wanted to like him, its very few people who get their name chanted nowadays, but...

Punk is establishing himself. Right now all he's doing is wrestling jobbers, so it's not very expected that he would get any sort of huge reaction.

There are so many who are better and more appealing then Punk (Roderick Strong, KENTA, and many others) I agree about KENTA, but Strong is pretty bland, and he's not very good on the mic either. Punk is good, but the crowd was dead tonight, and it was very noticeable. I wish he would get another finisher, like a brainbuster or something with impact.

they should make the pepsi twist his finisher at least. There are a few reasons he wasn't getting much of a reaction. 1. the crowd was dead throughout the show anyway. 2. he is still in early stages of his mainstream career. 3. they haven't really developed his character yet I think that soon they should turn him heel and just let him loose. I am sure he would get so much heat as the straight edge better then you gimmick in front of a wwe crowd.

Did you guys see the match? or was your head up your asses about the crowd reaction? plus, there were a couple of small CM Punk chants.. Relax, they are probably the same ones who think DX is not over with the crowds anymore. Something must be wrong with their TV set or something ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

There was a fairly decent pop for the guy. He got a chant during the beginning, a clap during Stevie's bearhug, and there was a tiny E-C-W chant after his suicide dive. He's not going to get a Rock or DX pop now. The guy hasn't shown his true potential. As long as he's Umanga-ing jobbers he's not going to anything more than he did tonight.
I'll admit at first I did think he was over-rated, but then I watched some of his indy work and I'm reallly starting to like Punk.
