I was just going through my collection of old NES games-this is one that rarely gets brought up when crapty wrestling games are talked about. Everyone has the same moveset. No finishing moves. The cage match is the most boring match in the game. Better yet - I remember on my tenth birthday I was allowed to pick out ONE gift - and this is what I picked. ;D Anybody else have this epic piece of crap? Oh, I almost forgot to mention the SUPER SECRET SELECT BUTTON PIN ESCAPE of which you are allowed one use per match, at which point you also receive a magical energy boost. That makes me laugh even today. ;D

That makes me laugh even today. ;D It's like hulking up!!! I remember seeing the ads in the back of WWF magazine and I always wanted to get it. I never did, but instead I did manage to pick up King Of The Ring for $7 at Blockbuster. HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE I TELL YOU!!

I guess this is as good of a place as any to ask, since it doesn't warrant a new thread...where did this crapty word come from? I had never heard it, but I see it written all the time on the internet now.

At one point I decided to buy every bad wrestling game I could so I own Wrestlemania, this and Wrestlemania Challenge (wrestle as YOURSELF) for NES. Unfortunately I have yet to find King of the Ring. I also own In Your House, Wrestlemania the Arcade Game, Thunder and Backstage Assault for Playstation.

WWF NES days are not that good.
As much as a fan I was of the old WWF days I never touch that WWF game I have for NES. Its not fun to me with what I think is really poor gameplay. Its more like a novelty piece in my collection.

all NES WWF games after Wrestling Challenge sucked really bad, I think because they were released concurrently with the SNES versions.

Weren't all of the WWF NES games horid. I think they were, my favorite NES wrestling game was the WCW one, where you could pick moves off a list, there were choices for moves off the ropes and each guy had a unique finisher

When people talk about these wrestling games on NES, I wonder why they try to pretend the Smackdown series sucks. Sure, it definately has its shortcomings, but wow, it ain't even close.

The NES WWF games were all pretty bad, even for their time. There already way better wrestling games around, like Tecmo World Wrestling.
Let's see... WrestleMania - All you can do is punch, kick, and sometimes a body slam. The wrestlers look like fat midgets, and there isn't even a crowd.
WrestleMania Challenge - Still too basic, and way too easy.
WrestleMania: Steel Cage Challenge - All wrestlers have the same limited moveset, and the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.
King of the Ring - Still the same moveset for every wrestler, gameplay just feels strange as well.
Decent WWF games for consoles didn't really come along until Royal Rumble and RAW. Before that, you had to go to the arcade and play Superstars or WrestleFest for some good WWF gaming. By the way, don't you love MAME?

Steel Cage Challenge sucks, I didn't even like it as a little kid. All I remember is the wrestlers OINKING whenever they got punched. And I never did figure out how to pin, so I lost every match. What a dumb game.
WrestleFest for the arcade is the best wrestling game ever. Mr. Perfect and Ultimate Warrior were my dream team.

"WrestleFest for the arcade is the best wrestling game ever. Mr. Perfect and Ultimate Warrior were my dream team."
I believe the wrestlers did the big celebratory high five for winning the tag match and the ever so funny despair look for losing.
I wish it would have been possible for the player to taunt. That was just reserved for the computer though. Earthquake always gave the thumbs down before ruining my ****.
